Kapil Paa ji scored 175 singlehandedly
by S Narain on Apr 04, 2011 07:22 PM  | Hide replies

& won us world cup....

Sourav scored 183 against Srilanka in1999 WC

Sourav scored 2 centuries in2003 WC &scored almost 500 runs &gave a well set team to Dhoni

Dhoni cliked only in final after platform was set by gambhir & Kohli,,,otherwise he failed in tournament,,,,,

Judge who is great!!!!! Dhoni on his own is least ..His success was mainly due to great team and great coach........

Fair Points, But no Point in Arguing who is Great at present, we can debate later on.

1983 Win is Bigger than this, I would agree on that, we have over come 2 time and Defending Champion team that had the same players in the previous 2 versions also unlike the present Aussies had only 4 from the 2007 Winning team

no senthil , 2011 win is greater than 1983 win just because of expectations , pressure and home , whilst in 83 none expected us to win , so less pressure than.

1983, we are not even Dark horse, Becoz of 1983 win Only we are still playing Cricket, else we wouldn't given any Value to this Sport.

Pressure, Yes, Emotional Fools country like us Pressure is a Big word, but every time every one has it.

Home Conditions is Favour not a Pressure. More over we are Favourite to win this and we did

Underdog has nothing to lose and can put best efforts without any pressure.. Favourites winning against 3 of the best opponents in the knockouts is really special!! They were the 3 of the best available opponents apart from SA..

But 1983 WC was just a fluke and WI showed the true colours after that series.. But it was the thing which induced crickt as a sport in India!! And, if u dont think playing in home is a pressure, then what is??

I feel people are overemotional. It is just a matter of a win or loss - and a loss in this game would mean Dhoni is a bad captain. So we can judge only over a period of time. Dhoni's captaincy has the great strength of absorbing pressure. Dhoni is so calm in pressure situations - this is remarkable. I think all this talk about him the greatest captain ever is mostly due to the occasion. Some of his decisions can be criticized, but in the present context he is the best person for captaincy. I just wish he is more consistent with his own batting and demands improvements in the bowling departments as he has done regarding fielding.

Absolutely agree. Captaincy is associated with winning in India. It actually is not. Winning is a result when you have the right talent. That does not mean captain of a losing team is a bad captain.

Can someone explain? I used to think that you have to completely deliver with a straight hand to have max effect. If you are bending your arm you cant get the max effect - speed and swing. It is physics, right? When u throw a projectile dont bend the rope!

could it be that he has a physical disability that forces him to do this? It did cross my mind... certainly doesn't look like a 'natural' movement...

Shaun Tait is a similar story. I would rather have Malinga than Tait. Malinga does not bowl many wides and no balls , his bowling is controlled and has some variations. Tait is terrible - I think it is good news for Ozs that he is out of serious cricket now.

I dont like Dillu at all. He is supposed to be a very destructive opener. I would have Veeru instead - no footwork but brilliant against fast bowling.

he is a friggin chucker, sidearm bowler. ICC is allowing him else they'd be termed 'racist' . His sidearm is completely unfair to batsmen considering he's a pacer. It'd be different if hewere a spinner like Paul Adams with weird action

It's supposed to overarm in cricket, not sidearm. His sidearm is completely unfair to batsmen considering he's a paceman. It'd be different if he were a spinner with weird action like Paul Adams. They allow his action for media and lankans calling ICC 'racist'
