Time to conqure other world..
by manoj kumar on Apr 04, 2011 03:31 AM

Though we are cricket crazy. we dont realise that most of the world respect olumpic and football. we are zero in both game. its time to wake up. we should use the resources created by cricket and transfer them to promote football and olumpic. if we can do it cricket we can also do it in other game. jai ho.

Finally CONTINUATION

It was very risky for the team as well as his own career as a captain. Good for both, he could lead from the front and reached the goal and set an example for leadership. For the first time he broke the jinx that he is a lucky captain encashing the contributions by other team members. It was a well fought and great win by incredible India.

It is observed that Sachin planned by design to linger on till 2011 CWC by sidetracking his cotemporaries like Dravid, Laxman and Ganguly, by resting himself off and on at will. They are equally good for this 50 overs format and would have played same as or better than what Sachin did in CWC 2011. He has still to complete some personal milestones. Hope he will retire at least now making way to so many youngsters in waiting. We don’t mind calling him better than Bradman! He can by all means go on in IPL series to represent Mumbai.

By announcing a cash prize to the Coach not equal to the players, BCCI has showed its mediocrity. Politicians do not grow. All the best to the royal game of cricket. Hope other games like Hockey and Football in India get similar hype and wealth, in spite of the politicians.

Finally India won the CWC
India started as favourites for CWC 2011 on the wishful thinking fans and not on the basis of the composition of the team, the fifteen chosen players, their current forms etc. The ability of both batting and bowling departments was very sketchy. No choice of options was available. Bowling department and Dhoni’s captaincy were in much to be desired level through the tournament. India peaked only during the QFs and SF, by beating Australia and Pakistan. In spite of these convincing victories in the kitty, beating Sri Lanka was a big task, unbelievably till it happened. Because Sri Lankan team was very strong in all the departments, had lot of options and had done very well on the way upwards.

Similarly the hype built for this CWC around Sachin Tendulkar was just a marketing gimmick by his sponsors and nothing else. And it proved to be so at the end with some of his good contributions adding to his own kitty of glory and not that of India. The combined performance of the team wins a game always. Some may excel in performance. Even in 1983 CWC win, each player was one among equals.

Chasing 275 was a formidable task. Sehwag went early and Sachin did a Yuvi in Mohali. Fortunately Gouthi and Virat rose to the occasion. But the turning point was the gut feel decision taken by Dhoni to promote himself in the batting order ahead of Yuvi.

Some really big star of India has not said anything about the world cup win. I am sure he would have congratulated Pakistan if they had won the WC. After all he had said Pak is a great neighbour

1. Mamta Didi has asked for a National Holiday to celebrate India's win.. Is it reqd to get a national holiday when the match is played on a saturday and next day is a holiday ????

2. Does she know how much revenue loss it will be if its declared as a national holiday ???

3.Is there any country which declares a Nartional Holiday after watching the match for entire day ???? Ok, agreed that recently Malaysia declared a national

holiday after it won the football match agnst Indonesia . But a football match is played for 90 minutes and that match was also played in National Games.

Adding to that , is India economically more super to Malaysia ??

4. Why did n't Mamta Didi asked for a National Holiday when Abhinav Bindra won the first individual Gold medal for the country ???

5. Being a woman ,has ever Soniaji/Mamtaji applauded the performance of Mary Kom who is a 5 times world boxing champion ?????

6. How many print/electronic media covered the news that Paes/Bhupathi won the Miami masters tennis on saturday and now they are world no.1 in doubles tennis

????

7. Many people are now demanding Bharat Ratna for Sachin. Agreed, he desrves it if at all it's given for achievement in sports ????
But then why it has not been given Major Dhyanchand yet ?????? What was his fault/crime/lesser achievemnt for not deserving that ????

8. With this kind of coverage/attention by print/electronic media and the pouring of money , do you think any kid will take a hockey stick in his hand ???

9. Can any one tell me why Hockey is still our national game and why we have not changed it to cricket when so much of attention is for cricket ?????

10. The headline is today's 'Times of India' is that ' India have conquered the world' ....really ???????
How many medals we are winning in Olympics ????
Do we think we have achieved the pinnacle in sports after winning the world cup cricket when cricket is not played by countries like

china,USA,russia, germany and played by only hadful countries ?????
( i'm pretty sure it will take china only 10 years to be the world no.1 in cricket the day they seriously consider it as a sports ).

10. Was it a lesser achievement by Ashish Kumar who won the first idividual medal in gymnastics in Asiad for india , competing with athletes from china, japan, uzbekistan, kazaksthan ?????? But why the media coverage was not the same compared to this world cup celebration ????????

why r u so unhappy Mr. bango tango china will never compete with us in cricket and in 2000 where r u when we need to defeat or get a 2-2 draw with poland to reach semifinal of olmpic hockey and 70 seconds before ramandeep lost the ball and we conceded a goal my dear nation got thrilled when team won not a single person in any game look at US they love baseball and basketball more than athletics and swimming they had won more 200 gold medal in these two still they love to win baseball or basketball baseball played in only 3 countries US, Japan, Cuba so cheer up this victory we had done something extraordinary we will never won an olympic hockey gold or world cup in any other team sport so don't be so pessimistic proud to be an Indian b'coz we r world champion in one sport.

yes Abhay, i absolutely remember that Ind-Poland match which still hurts hockey fans of India.....

u r contradicting ur own statement ...u say USA love Baseball/Basketball though they have won more than 200 gold medal in swimming ....

same way we love cricket...but have we won more than 10 Gold Medals in Olympics ????????

Does it make you proud to be champion in only one sport ???????? for me not...I want India to be World Champion in cricket as well as to win Gold medal in Olympics... or else we will be like Indonesia/Malaysia , winning the sepak takraw world cup played by only few countries...
