Congrats !!!
by Raju Banarasi on Apr 03, 2011 02:46 PM

They have proved many of us wrong,
They went way beyond a common man's assumption,
They proved they deserve to play for nation,
They proved WE deserve to be a winner!

Don't forget Kapil's 1983 Devils, they inspired a nation to follow cricket as our favorite passtime. This day wouldn't have been possible if not for them

Completely agree with you, it was Kapil and his devils who inspired the later Indians to give it all and fight. In a way their win over the then mighty Windies was indeed more fabolous when all odds were against them and that too ag a team that had some of the greatest of the all time greats like Clive Lloyd, King Sir Vivian Richards, Micheal Holding, Malcolm Marshall, Andy Roberts, Joel Garner, Gordon Greenidge, etc. That win in my opinion ranks even higher as most of these guys were in prime.

Superstition
by bhalachandra singde on Apr 03, 2011 04:07 AM

Yes like Amitabh, I am also superstitious, not me but my family too, that my watching match brings ill luck for Indian Team. After fall of 2 most important vickets, my daughter Jyoti said that I should go and sleep. Anyway it was 1.30am in Australia and I went to sleep to be woken by my daughter to say that we have won. Bravo Indian Team under Dhoni as Captain.

Do not try to be so self centered that you ask the inspiring man to be out since he has done the job required to be done. His young team mates are giving him credit for the cup knowing fully well that his materialistice performance was not there but his inspiration was there to encourage .What made you to think when he got out that now cup is slipping from our hands.?Know doubt that youngers are there and many more will follow but you cannot show the gate who have done so much for cricket, the fact of which no one can deny.

Yes he can become a citizen of India in two ways.
1) he can become a citizen of India under the agreement during partition that any citizen of India or Pakistan who wishes to change their country of residence can do so once in life.
2) he can claim temporary residence in India through marriage, but will have to spend a set time ( I can't remember the exact time, I think it 5years with maximum total of 80 days out from India).
Then he can apply for a permanent stay in India if permanent stay is granted then he will have to wait 2 years before he can apply for India citizenship.
In these seven years he can't hold any government job or any job that involves national security such as a Police, join Army,Air force or Navy etc nor he can open any business that may affect national security.
There are few other restrictions which he will have to clear with the immigration department.

Legal term for fixing
by wibas wibas on Apr 03, 2011 01:16 AM  | Hide replies

In corporates companies decide to give contracts to their business partners, but still call for 'Request for Proposals'. No foul play or no corruption, the company's CEO or some CxO simply decides to give the contract to selected business partner. This is called business arrangement and is perfectly legal but unethical. For example, World Bank, IMF are slammed for their bias towards US because US is their largest shareholder, and in fact is US President decides the head of world bank. UNO itself has approved inhuman wars of Iraq and others, because the security council is managed by US, France and UK leaving China and Russia. No one can prove this to be corruption, it is only termed as political arrangement.

How is this related to cricket? ICC is the regulator of international cricket and BCCI - the Indian Cricket Board is the richest cricket board across world, so unless India wins the cup - ICC cannot survive. In 2007, India has exited prematurely so ICC wasn't able to rake up the projected revenues. This time ICC is careful for India to win.

Before the semi-final match itself ICC chief Haroon Lorgat said it will be a "fairy tale ending for Sachin". how can he say even before semi-finals, unless 'special arrangements' are made for India to win? Simple business sense to make India win, no fixing but only arrangement. No wonder Sharad Pawar gave 400 million rupees of tax benefit to ICC. Good arrangement but truth is it is fixing.

Re: Legal term for fixing

If it comes out that it is fixing also, we will be equally happy. Ask Why? Fixing is never done to win but to lose. That means Aussies, Pakis and Lankans all accepted some thing or the other to throw their games away, so they are all traitors of their countries and charecterless cheats. Indian players are true gentlemen by not doing any such thing, so they deserver to be winners. They made us proud by not indulging in such activities. I don't know which losing country you belong to, but stop crying on Indian Win, and cry for having a corrupt team representing your country (if you beleive in fixing). Better yet, come out of that illusion of fixing, accept defeat graciously like the captains and players of your teams did, and pray to god that next time round, your team work hard and give their best. Of course, even after that, no one can assure you victory as this is a game afterall; don't beleive, ask any SA fan or player. India deserves this win whether any one accepts or not, the emotions at end of every match are a proof to us. Chak De INDIA!!
