The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hiked retainership and participation fees across all forms of the game for cricketers selected for international matches on Thursday, even as it downgraded out-of-form batsman Yuvraj Singh and promoted Suresh Raina to the top bracket. Yuvraj has been p related stories 'Returning to Tests my ultimate dream' ushed down from A to the B group in the BCCI’s gradation system, with a substantial lowering of retainership fee.
The biggest hike announced was in the participation fee for Test matches, which has been raised from R2.5 lakh to R7 lakh per test. With India topping the Test rankings, the BCCI is understandably keen to promote this form of cricket. These are the annual contracts from October 2010 to September 2011.
While the hike in Test match fees is 180%, that in one-dayers is around 150%. The remuneration for a Twenty20 International has been doubled.
“We want to emphasise the primacy of Test cricket,” said BCCI secretary N Srinivasan.
“If a player plays Test cricket regularly, he will not only be paid the most but also be respected the most,” BCCI chief administrative officer Prof Ratnakar Shetty said.
The BCCI also revised the annual retainer substantially for top players. Nine top players were retained in Grade A will be paid R1 crore, seven in Grade B who will be paid R50 lakh. Grade C players (eight) stay in the R25 lakh bracket

Sachin's centuries were jinxed. His two centuries led to a tie and a defeat. His half centuries were more useful...
I will be feeling proud to be an Indian when Indians have access to basic amenities and necessities which have been enjoyed by the developed world for centuries and increasingly enjoyed by the most of the world including Chinese, S Koreans, etc. When no Indian child, man or woman goes hungry due to want of food, every child has access to functioning school, all families have roof over their head and above all are Indians are given respect and live in dignity and various forms of societal and state tyranny. This is not a utopia and indeed many parts of the world have developed to that extent, and sadly elite Indians are aping some select aspects of the developed nations. I will be proud when India falls to the the bottom of crooked nation league table and rises among top to the UN human development index table.

To start with stop producing like rabbits and mice. !.5 Billion to feed is not a joke and is not governments responsibility alone. people who cant feed themself go on to have as many as 10 children then whose fault is it. Beside no one owe any one a living. yes there is a govenment gfault as well abd a big one that is that it allows corruption, no one asks any question to corrupt about their wealth. The story goes both ways. Corruption and breeding unnecessarily is the downfall of every citizen. Don't blame one hand blame both since it take both hands to clap.

It is a utopia to think that all 1.2 billion people of India will be middle class and free of poverty one day. That is why games like cricket are there, so that people can forget their miseries, and be happy just for a moment...

Pratibha in her name normally should indicate some talent. My hindi is not great but pratibha means some talent in every language. I think she licked Sonia's lower gates dry. She must be having a fake resume like the CVC she appointed. She cannot be of any link to Shivaji. May be she is talking about Shivaji the peon in my office.

NOW PEOPLE FROM A STATE WHERE EVEN RABRI DEVI CAN BECOME CM GONNA TEACH US ABT CRININALS & POLITICS. BETTER U CLEAN UR HOME FIRST & THEN COME & TEACH US. U DEGRADENT CHEEP SUBHUMANS & MIGRANTS!!
Thanks to ex ICC chief Dalmiya, due to whom Ganguly and Dhoni who shaped present cricket team got the chance to play for India...
Or else,Indian team would have remained a Bombay team with few punches here and there from Dilli and Madras...
Now,it is time talented players from Himachal,Rajasthan,Assam,Kashmir, etc also gets a chance to represent the national team.If cricket can be used for external diplomacy with Pakistan, then why not internal national integration ??
Re: Thanks to Dalmiya
by Abe Oye on Apr 03, 2011 10:52 PM
Dalmiya was a thoroughly corrupt man, who controlled the Indian team, along with Ganguly with an iron hand. Ganguly actually accused him of leaking e-mails and ditched him to support Pawar. Ganguly was good in the beginning, but later on became a politician. Indian team has improved mainly because of Dhoni and Kirsten. And Indian cricket team is supposed to a bunch of talented players, and not a vehicle for achieving national integration...
Just like in the 2003 WC finals, Sachin again choked yesterday. But this time our team is better, and our opponent is weaker and didn't make 350 runs, so we won. But Sachin always chokes at the big moment, unlike Dhoni, Gambhir and Yuvraj.
Re: Sachin always chokes in the Final
by om shanti on Apr 03, 2011 10:44 PM
He did not choke,Malinga delivered a scorcher at him.It is just vilification,or else why people does not point finger at Sehwag, what got out for a duck !
Sachin's stance may be short, but he played agressively.
Any way,in the first place, without Sachin's 82 against Pakistan in the semifinal or his century against England,India would not have come so far..Sachin is the second highest run getter(482),just after Dilshan(500) in the tournament..it is team effort which won for India..
We Indians are mad about batsmen. No doubt batsmen have to put runs on board for the bowlers to defend. But the contribution of Zaheer Khan has been the most vital in the whole WC. He picked up key wickets when India needed the most. His tally of 22 wickets is as good as scoring 1000 runs with the bat in the oturnament.
Re: Real Hero of WC was Zaheer Khan
by om shanti on Apr 03, 2011 10:22 PM
Say all batsman out for 140 runs in an innings, what use will be Zaheer Khan?
It is basically a team work.Yes,Zaheer to India, equal to Gul to Pakistan,Southee to New Zealand,Malinga to Srilanka,Lee to Australia,Swan to England,Steyn to South Africa,etc,etc..means he is India's strike bowler...
In the INDIAN cricket team. We need to have at least two players from the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur or Mizoram.
We do not want the people in these states to feel left out.
Till today we have had only cricketers from the states of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and UP.
We need wider representation.
We need to setup talent spotting academies and county matches in the Eastern states to capture talent from that part of India also.
Catch these youngsters young and train them. We need spotters and league matches and selection committees to do their jobs thoroughly.
Given that these states have a substantial population, it is hard to believe that there is not one bowler or batsmen of real caliber who will not emerge from these seven-sister states.
Indian selectors have their job cut-out for them. The seven sister states need to have their share of cricketing heroes to adore and emulate as well.

Are you SC , ST or what? I didnt know we had to have reservation in Cricket now!

Abu Nechim Ahmed from Assam had ensured India win under-19 world cup with his lethal bowling spell. He is much better than Shreesanth or Munaf. But as he is from Assam he cannot get a chance. He plays for Mumbai Indians in IPL currently.
Arlen Konwar from Assam is a better off spinner than Harbhajan Singh. You can check the record of these players in cric-info.
Fast bowler Ranjit Mali and all rounder Dhiraj Goswami are top class cricketers as well.
They will never find representation in Indian team, thats why separatist movements gets ground in border states...
It was good luck of Ganguly and Dhoni that due to Dalmiya they could make into Indian team from Eastern states...

Team India should comprise of the best Talent. There is no need to politicize the selection process. Leave one sport unscathed by regional politics. If not satisfied, check out the state if Indian Soccer, which has this quota system. I am appalled.

Cricket should employ the best talent, no matter where they came from. It is not meant to be a politically correct, charitable institution...
