To Godisgreat
Yes, that was the bolt from the blue. But anyway, that does not make this one any less special. We were favourites this time and we lived up to that reputation. That time we were underdogs, so had no pressure, no expectations. But this time..., winning required nerves of steel, the team reeling under the expectations of a billion people.Dhoni and his men lived up to those expectations and came out with flying colours. There was no media glare at that time, these days, even one move that proves wrong, could spell doom for the captain and the players and end their ccareers. In these trying circumstances , our team won the Cup. Hats off to team India.

Will tendulakar retire??
by godisgreat on Apr 03, 2011 07:02 AM  | Hide replies

I have seen folks saying tendulkar doesn`t play for records and all that crap. Will he retire from ODI after this Worldcup win?

He won`t because he still needs that 100th 100 in ODI..He is a selfish cricketer, just plays for record.

there are jealous idiots like you who cannot understand a bit of cricket n keep criticizing legends.there is no one in the world who can tell sachin that there is a flaw in his batting or any weakness.plz see the worldcup statistics.he is the reason India was so good in batting.n abt records, the closest pointing will need his son to add up to his total.even then its not sure if they would reach sachin's mark

Too bad you didn't "give" him 250 centuries 5 years back which would have ensured you didn't have to keep thumping your keyboard on Rediff on the smallest opportunity you got... :)

Mr Rajesh.... What I meant was he has scored 99 centuries(ODI test)...so why can`t he retire from ODI and just play test matches..he can still get to 100th 100.

Test matches best suits for him...if he doesn`t get out of ODI by himself,he would be forced to go..dhoni is smart fellow, one of the haters of sachin,he will see to it.

all great people like richards, border, gavaskar, steve waugh....(there is big list) retired when they also had atleast 2-3 yrs more and were doing well.

as a sportsman, give way to youngsters. there are lot of deserving people who ware waiting for their chance

Even if Sachin and all the other cricketers retired today (which all of them should according to your "intelligent" logic); you will still not be selected as a 12th man in your local muhalla team... rest assured!! :)

simple...I don`t want him and his son play in same team in next 10 years ..hahahahaha

We have had enough of him...time to give other youngsters to step up and play.

He was a total failure today, that will always haunt him..hehehehehe

He is highest run scorer for India and second best in the world cup still you want him to be replaced by whom. We are still finding a replacement for him for the last 10 years. Performers should decide when they should retire not u and me.

Our master blaster plays during the first 15 overs, when players are closer to the bat...and hitting a ball around the ground is difficult. This Gautam Gambhir hits shot but cannot hit the way Sachin does. Sachin is a match winner, and he never plays for centuries and fifty, eventually if he makes last 10 runs of 20 balls during the slogging overs for his every 100....who cares...that century is really useful...because then our Lord will appear more in Advertisements of Adidas, Boost, Luminous inverters and many more...and we can pray him....Yes Sachin ...Sachin....We need sixer...we need sachin.

I dont understand...why did we win today? Our World Class Star Sachin Tendulkar scored only 18....and we won. Why these youngsters stepped in??? Let Sachin win matches for us. He's a Star...No body can replace him...this cup is of no use...We want Sachin....I agree with Viswasam & Sonu....Yuvraj, Sehwag, Raina and Dhoni...these Cricketers are just "One" specific day heroes. I wish if all of these play 115 balls and make centuries like our GOD Sachin does. Then we will say...We won We won...ok, Godisgreat?. three cheers for Sachin followers. We could win one world cup....in the 21 years presence of Sachin. He must not retire at all.

know what ?
by Wanderlust on Apr 03, 2011 02:54 AM

on an average many indian kids want to take cricket asa career but are discouraged because it is seen as dead end to life ...but a nation which is marching on path of development and economic resurgence is measured by the freedom it can provide its citizens to choose various paths ...

china lays great emphasis on various sports and so it has a great olympic medal haul.... thats how it shows its presence in world..

in india on an average every second kid wants cricket ...owing to this popularity indian government should establish a professional institution which can provide diplomas ...and give professioanl edge to the national talent.

also under the aegis of such an institute we can carry out medical reseach on sports injury and rehabilitation center and re-incorporation center by which a great player who suffers major injury is not rendered useless.... also retired talent can go back as faculty...

all in all a professional set up rather than an adhoc academy run by BCCI

think about it sports minister ....cricket has potential to launch diplomacy with neighbouring country ...cricket has potential to spin billions in money ...cricket has potential to bring a nation to stndstill ...or push it into celebrations or mourning for days together.....
