During 2005, India won only one test and lost 2 matches... That solo victory came of Murali Karthik's heroics and he was man of the match during that match. Eventually, that was his last test match for India and he never played for India again... Great selection!!!! Isn't it?? Why was he not selected after that???

If I remember correctly then that pitch where murli karthik took wickets was a dust bowl.

Agree but nothing undermines the guy's talent. Just tht he was in the reckoning only in his mid twenties and lost out due to shelf-life arguments that continue to baffle and throttled even the likes of the Gangulies of India. If the guy is good, he should get a look in. Under the guise of grooming younger blood, it is stupid to pull the plug on deserving cricketers once they move into their 30's. Politics aside, Ganguly had a year or two left in him for ODI cricket. You gotta hide him maybe but with a slight kick, he would have served it better than the Rohit Sharmas and Yuvarajs of this world who struggle to be consistent. Poor Murali Kartik !

You are right about Ganguly. I still think that he was better one day player than a test player. He should have played for 1-2 years in one day cricket.
Kartik I think he had enough chances to prove himself, at least in one dayers. Just check his bowling averages.

Talent has to be transformed in to performance. But unfortunately, murali karthik has not been able to do so,though we all agree that he has real talent. BUT, i still wonder if this criteria is universal to all, then how can bhajji keep his place in all formats of the game. His axing is overdue in ODI's and T20's for sure and should be replaced by ashwin

Bingo ! Kartik has shown maturity even in the IPL and in all games he has played. Agree that the stats don t look inspiring but he did not get a string of chances even as much as a Piyush Chawla got. Harbhajan is an off spinner who is off his wicket-taking abilities. Being labelled India s senior most spinner after Kumble is his only means to being in the team. He has lost his sting and the numbers are there for all to see. Just that the yardstick is different for Kartik ! Ashwin is a very good find. Mature and peaking at the right time. Hope he is not doused in the regional politics that have doused the sport.

The main fact is that Kartik is not active in field His structure is not a sportsman like. First he would have tried to improve his figure but it is too late. Competition inthe game is too much. BST

My dear friend, he is not competing in modelling or fashion shows, but in cricket. Did u mean to comment about his physique?

Dear, we are talking about the physical fitness, which is very much required in sports. The fitness which I am talking about is fitness in field. An example I can give you about is of Salim Durrani who was a very good Batsman and famours for his sixers as well as a left arm slow spinner, but he lacked in fielding because of his physical fitness and that is why he could not continue as long as he should have been. The comments which you have made are quite humerous and cannot believe that you could not understand my simple English. Sorry for these comments Regards, BST

In India, things like this happen. Performance is not the yardstick here whether it is for the players or for the management. Infact, the management, right from the top, should also be accountable for the performance of the players. That is very much evident in the state of affairs in Indian sports
Since Ponting has taken over the captaincy, Australia is loosing its impact in the game. Let us see what he does. but an unlucky captain cannot face the luckiest captain of the universe specially in India. Amin!

These Australians are never casual in game, but POnting is helpless to face the No.1 team.

We have to admit it at the moment. YOu will yourself realise after the result of this series. BST

The result of this series at home won't do anything to change my mind mr. The rankings, i learnt will stay the same even if india loose this series. But a team with such a poor bowling attack cannot be said as number one. Hope, we wont have to face england anytime soon, bcoz their bowling is much better than ours. A rookie like swann is 100 times better than a so-called seasoned bhajji. And, without taking 20 wickets, no team can win a test match,

Only simply week bowling and week batting alone cannot be responsible for winning or losing. It is ateam effort and good leadership which should not be commanding but a friendly can win the matches. The results are showing that our team is a good team spirit wise which I hope you would admit. Example is the World Cup won by INdia in 1983. The indian teams were the underdogs and because of their team spirit they won the world cop. This is a history now.
he knows that its a waste of time playing mind games wid India,as it will have no effect on the indian team and he fears that his team would have to their own medicine if they play mind games wid India...bcoz in the recent past India also became very good in palying the mind games..... SO BEWARE PONTING INDIA IS GOING TO DESTROY U AND UR TEAM
In the 2004 Test series between Australia and India, in India (won by Australia, 2-1) ..........
In both the Test matches won by Australia, Ponting didn't play. Adam Gilchrist was the substitute captain. In the last 2 Test matches that Ponting played and captained, one was a draw and the other India won.
