No substiute young agile players

Tendulakar and his peers must realize that T20 unlike Test is game of youth and agility. It's time the selectors built separate teams for T20 ODI and tests where need based requirements are different. We have enough bench strength to create/develop specialized teams for each format of the game.

only "ability" counts....no youth factor involved in it....good fielder is a good fielder in all formats of the game....there is no 20-20 format fielder or bowler or batsmen .....only capable player can play and succeed.....
this has been proved after 3 IPL's...team like RCB has experienced players , and is doing well in this format....only thing is "adaptibility"...that counts

The white elephant
by Guest on Sep 11, 2010 09:31 AM  | Hide replies

Though sachin plays a good innings at the top of the order, he is an unlucky mascot for any team in which he plays.

Sachin is like a white elephant. He requires good care and attention, then he will play well and look good only at the cost of the team, which looked after him.

Sachin was out at 4 yesterday. The ball was going to hit the lower of the middle stump. Thanks to Umpire De Silva who saved him on the simplest LBW decision. After all the richest cricketer plays for the team owned by the richest Indian who was watching the match.

1.2 O'Reilly to Tendulkar, 1 leg bye, whoah, Tendulkar very lucky to survive, just short of length, pitching outside off, cut in sharply from outside off and was going on to hit middle after beating Tendulkar, who was caught on the crease, massive appeal turned down by Asoka de Silva, the Lions were still appealing when Tendulkar took a few strides down the track after the ball rolled to point, a direct hit would have caught Tendulkar well out, huge slice of luck for Mumbai

problem with sachin is that he never thinks for "team needs"....
in this format of the game opening is easy....u can get off to good starts....callenging part is playing at the middle order...u have to hit everything....that's where "experience" counts....
unfortunately sachin never willing to know this fact...never willing to accept this as a challenge and bat at n0.4 position.....he fails init....team looses....he scores "tons" of runs and wins awards....
it's been happening for a long time...

Fine, but do you know that White elephants are just worth a thousand tons of gold because they are never to be found.....

Just ponder before you write something like you wrote above. Team India is a team only becuase of Sachin and you very well know how in the recent series the team was battered black and blue..

you are wrong pontingisdonkey, sachin's 117 and 91 were not match winning knocks in finals of CB series against aus in aus. it was our bowlers who won that series for us. it was our bowlers who restricted aus target to 240 in first final and as usual sachin took advantage of that modest total to hit another century (nearly all his 100s have come chasing meagre totals) in the second final too it was our bowlers who stopped aus from getting the 258 runs required for winning, a not-so-formidable target. it was all because our underrated and undercredited bowlers, especially praveen kumar that we won the final and fitting praveen kumar was awarded MOM.

Hmm pontingisdonkey, we may have been 87 for 3 at one stage but i would not say that india were struggling at that stage. with rohit sharma, dhoni, irfan pathan, harbhajan yet to bat and about 150 to get in 31 overs it was not exactly a very challenging total to chase. so even with 3 down we were in a comfortable position. in the second final again it was not only sachin who played 3 others made 30 plus scores. uthapppa made 30 runs dhoni made 38 from 38 balls, yuvraj made 36 from from 37 balls. and later praveen kumar took 4 wickets (including the dangerous gilchirst for 2 runs and ponting for 1 run) to seal the victory for us. The CB series was won due to total team effort and it is wrong to say that sachin was responsible for that series win. in fact coming to the finals sachin's form was cause to worry because in the league matches he had made only about 190 runs in 8 innings with an average of around 23 runs. it was dhoni, gambhir rohit sharma and our bowlers who had taken indian to the finals. and all of them did well in the finals also. but many ungrateful and blind fans only give credit to sachin for that win.

Hmm U may have forgot again that India were struggling in the first final on 88/3 if Sachin also got out there then we would have lost the match.and in second final again it was Sachin who give us that fighting total to defend otherwise We could have lost that match also.

Those who comment about sachin should introspect first before any statement. They are not even in negetive percentage of the caliber of that of sachin. Any way "dog barks ....." let them. Sachin is Sachin and none in the world is like him.

Wrong bowling changes and field settings?
by Guest on Sep 11, 2010 09:23 AM  | Hide replies

I think the captaincy should be blamed for that. Harbhajan never got to complete his 4 overs and mclaren didnt bowl more than 1 over. mclaren gave only 4 runs in his one over. The bowling changes were not proper.

Thats where dhoni stands out from the rest of the indian so called captains. Dhoni makes sure the best bowlers are bowled at the right time.

Maybe the M.I. will win if sachin stepped down from captaincy. He is just unlucky as a captain.

This loss is just another example of how the team loses after sachin play a solid innings and eats away the balls at the top. He did score at a fast pace then he should have thought about the team as a whole and made sure to stay till the target is within eyesight.

This type of loss has not happened once or twice, but a lot of times for the indian team. This was the reason the mumbai indians lost also in the ipl finals against CSK.

sachin must play at the middle order...which is important position in this format of the game.....let young players open the inningse.....he should look for "finishing:" the game rather than giving good starts...
experience counts while playing at middle overs....and finishing the game....
unfortunately he ails at middle order, unable to adapt....that's why team looses...

Shruti, you go to hell or better die. Who cares ? May be your parents who have given you birth. Don't talk like that regarding Sachin. He has kept the interest in Indian cricket for the last 20 to 25 years. If he retires, Indian cricket is going to Indian hockey. None of the present available Indian lot can match at least 15% of his calibre, understand. None, none, I repeat again none.

Its incorrect to say do or die to sachin. Its sachin who is doing and the team which is dying. The motto that should be taught to sachin should be do and save the team also.
