Aamir is just a kid, it'll be hard on him to get punished. He shuld b let off lightly. Rather benefit of doubt.

That ll really serve him a lesson. Poverty teaches everything.

Amir should be punished if he is found guilty. Gone are the days when you gave benefit of doubt for a 18 year old. These days youngsters know everything and are aware of the do's and dont's.

Punishing the guilty irrespective of age, will send the right message to all future generations.
This time the guys have been caught with enough proof.

It is time we make sports clean, healthy and competitive.

It is sad that people are trying to differentiate criminals by their age and are trying to relax punishments.

Or They should punish Aamir and allow to play Salman Butt and Md. Asif.
Sometimes I feel all Pakistanis r innocent. I think ICC must ve made scapegoat. Infact rest of the Boards should allow Pakis to do wt ever they want.

In most of the country 18 is age where u can vote ur leader........
U r sending wrong message to all those who are involved in fixing...Then another pakistani of age 19 will fix the match then also will do the same thing?
If u murder a person at age of 18 telling that u are innocent and a small kid who dont know anything will ur law keep quite?

Spineless ICC and the dangers to the game!
by Talisman on Sep 06, 2010 03:24 PM  | Hide replies

If I am crciketer that plays the game the honest way, I would refuse to play against pakistan. The country has produced great cricketers in the past. However, now, it is a team of cheats - eventhough, there may be one or two genuine players, even now.

These players that decided to make some extra cash on the side should be banned for life. Any leniency will blow up in ICC's face.

He is smart enough

If he is able to strike a deal with an Agent at the tender age of 18, then he should be able to face the consequences too. So why a concession for him? If only he has been misled or coerced by his captain, he could claim some sort of reprieve.

Crime is crime,age not factor
by DesiHero on Sep 06, 2010 02:32 PM

This is wrong policy of ICC. Who so ever found guilty, should be banned for life. This is cheating fraud with public who spend lots of money tp buy tickets to see match. If 18 is considered mature to allow him to play for their country, this is mature enough to know that if caught, they can be banned for whole life. So ban whom so ever guilty for life. Otherwise, new comer cricketers will take advantage knowing they will not be banned for life, they will not refrain from making illegal money by cheating with public.

cricket -the religion
by aruna kumar on Sep 06, 2010 01:28 PM

I am happy to note that people are wrried to save a good game, a good player.Hope they are also worried the same way about the dream world;where everyone gets equal opportunities for development, health and education crossing the lines of religion, cast, creed, gender, nationality; and if someone fails is given a chance to correct like in a good sports.

Whenever we heard match fixing case, it is 95% in Pakistan. May be they get less money than Indian Player and it show their lust for money rather national pride.

But have you realised that most of the betting scams involved INDIAN bookies and Agents? While it is a crime to give in to temptation, it is also a crime tempting. We Indians should also feel ashamed that we are partly responsible for the current situation. India's credibility as a peaceful, neutral country has also taken a hit with such people willing to go down to any extend, irrespective of the damage to the game, just for the sack of making money. Earlier it used to happen only in Sharjah. Now in India and Pakistan as well. Seriously there is a lot to be done than just taking actions against players.

Yes true....but one can not compare with other countries players. They have to see they still earn much more than an average Pakistani. If I start comparing my earnings with some developed countries than I will have to bribe every possible way to get that. Thats not the way. The bottom line is the Pakistani cricket is into wrong hands without able leadership.
