"The three players met me requested me to ask the Pakistan Cricket Board not to consider them for the rest of the series because they wanted to clear their name and honour." To take action now is unhelpful, premature and unnecessary considering the players had already voluntarily withdrawn from playing," I found that all these three players were absolutely innocent. They were not involved, they have been taken for a ride and the agent (Mazhar Majeed) was the culprit, in the sense that he was responsible for defrauding some Asian bookies," "What is the reputation of those people who have brought us this story?"
I am no fan of Pak cricket nor a supporter, but in this episode I think the ICC jumped the gun just too soon. The British police has not even filed FIR against anybody (including the agent), so I don't think this action will stand in any court of law.

You are right, but why do you think that ICC acted in haste? Do you see any similarity with the way BCCI handled the IPL fiasco, by hastily suspending Lalit Modi and in the process saving its own back. Its a very well tested method of Sharad Pawar. ICC hasn't taken notice of earlier complaints from Australian cricketers, so in that way it is guilty of taking things casually. And now before the focus shifts on ICC, Sharad Pawar had to taken some steps, suspend a few people and in the course show it to the general public that its still honest in its effort to cut corruption.

Agreeing 100% with you. It seems to be more of a political decision rather than anything else. But Im afraid that this would make Pak claim moral high-ground and crying (once again) of being a victim of conspiracy.
Please see another news. The Pak high commisioner Hassan has clearly mentioned that the 3 tainted players have 'opted out' due to 'mental pressure' and not have been suspended / dropped!!
i think some agencie is behind this episode and all this has been done to malign the image of pakistan cricket and to ruin the careers of asif, aamir and salmaan.further i was surprised by shane warnes comments, why didn,t he said the same thing when he and mark waugh were found involved in fixing.
