KOHLI is not that exciting to watch!
by Crickbufff on Oct 20, 2010 11:56 PM  | Hide replies

as Yuvi, Raina, Sehwag, Laxman or Tendulkar!

but he has delivered on most times for India and was also the under-19 WC winning captain that won the cup purely thro' his runs!

Real dance is when sachin dances to teh tunes of Glenn Mc grath/Murali....Nobody can beat this dance...LBW dance, wicket keepr dance and intentional run out dance to avoid batting technique failure

Who is Glenn McGrath? And who is Murali? :)

Since none of them plays now, you are admitting Sachin is gonna make it big in 2011? :)

At the moment he is enjoying chicken tanduri from VIP gallery.
Tendu is in diff league. He chooses his matches. Nobody selects him. He tells board which match he plays.
So dont worry. He is always around (100% sure till world cup. after that we dont know)

Good one Altaf, only he in the cricketing world has the power to decide, which match he wants to play, other's come nd go...let virat kohli play just one over from Mcgrath or wasim akram or waqar younis or shane warne or murli....he is just going to dance to their tunes...

What happened to the so-called Aussie Bench strength??
by sandeep kumar on Oct 20, 2010 11:37 PM  | Hide replies

There was always a lot of talk about how Aussies have replacements ready for everyone. But since 2007, they have been exposed. And in todays game, smith, stark etc wont even make it to a good ranji lineup. Australia is on the decline, and they cant even sledge these days!! Contrast that with India which has an embarassment of riches..Kohli,rohit,vijay,yusuf, etc who can wasily step into the shoes of SRT and others when they retire. Great to see Indias potential, and surely at age 21, Kohli must be the worlds most promising young batsmen these days! And love his positive attitude on the field as well

What do you expect Dhoni to do? Shout from the rooftops that he is not performing? Dhoni has always given credit to the people who bat or bowl well that day and gives credit to the team even when he performs well himself with the bat.

Good analysis. One thing that can be improved further is if Dhoni becomes a non-playing captain. Another solid contributor in his place will ensure greater success for India... :)

Re: Enjoy
by Altaf Rahman on Oct 20, 2010 11:40 PM
thats what i was trying to say.
In a team game like cricket, you cant expect all 6 specialist batsmen to score centuries in every match.
When one or two fail, the others rise to the ocasion and fulfill the task ahead. Same with bowlers.
On the whole after all its the team which wins.
As a captain the strain is more. He has to check the pitch, wheather and think stratagy, sending right batsman at right situation, field placements, shuffling bowlers, sending messages to batsmen.
The responsibility of captain is more than just swinging the bat.
More over if dhoni repeatedly fails to score, we can show concern thats all. If he is repeatedly failing to score and failing to win, then we need to think of alternative captains.

Fortunately we are not in that situation. So realx and enjoy the rare moments (after the last 20 years of sad situation)

He is not superman. Like everyone else he'll perform well sometimes and not other times. But as captain, he has brought India a lot of victories - the performance of the team is partly due to him. Good captaincy IS good performance too.

Kohli's century guides India to victory
by Viraf Mehta on Oct 20, 2010 11:15 PM  | Hide replies

MS Dhoni has undoubtedly been an excellent Captain for Team India. However of late his performance with the bat has not met expectations. I think, the Board should caution him to pull up his socks and concentrate on his batting.

Dhoni is different from Ganguteli.
Dhoni has managed a team which will win even if one or two players fail in their tasks.
Ganguteli neither was scoring nor winning. Lot of politics then. Dravid not happy (how long will he wait to be captain as both dravid and ganguteli started life same test)

what you said is true even for gavaskar. If you let gavaskar play, he would have crossed 25000 runs by now. then why he was left out? there is a thing called 'end'. Everybody has to recognize it and retire when time comes. Ganguteli refused to see the end. What happened. He was kicked out. (this happened after greg left. so no grey area. ofcourse greg triggered the event)
Did u watch ganguteli in the final days? HE was more concerned to cover his bald head with long hair than bat or bowl. He was struggling. Fell pity for him after such a great carrier ending with sad end.
I never said he is not a great captain. He brought the confidence that we can fight and win. What I am unhappy with is his end. He could have gracefully retired unlike getting kicked out.
