Heading for a draw..thanks to Dravid and Sachin !
by Gopi on Nov 07, 2010 10:26 AM

I can understand Dravid's game because that is the only way he can play...straight to the fielders like fielding practice! But, why did Sachin play so slow...just can't believe it when our score was so good.

dominate?!!
by Ashwin Kempegowda on Nov 06, 2010 08:01 AM

What does Rediff mean by dominating?

NZ was able to keep Indian batsmen quiet for most of the day 2, free flowing Bajji being the sole exception.

India managed to score only about 150 runs giving away the advantage built on day 1.

Dravid's dilemma
by King on Nov 05, 2010 06:29 PM

A couple of days earlier Sourav Ganguly said, on a news channel, that as a player moves past the mid-thirties he loses his confidence far more than he does his ability. Is that the case with Dravid, surrounded as he is by young batsmen, who admire him but challenge him nonetheless. Is he so increasingly aware of his mortality, that he was guarding himself against every possibility? This is Harsha Bhogle's comment in Cricinfo & is on the dot. Many players while having the ability, loose the confidence.

I pray that the wall gets his confidence back and changes the mind-set to a T20 format. He is too good to be retired forcefully.

Indian Batting on Day 2 of First test Against New Zealand
by Sanjaykumar Wawale on Nov 05, 2010 06:20 PM

From a score of 300 Plus for 3, India collapsed on Day 2. Thanx to Bhajji, without his contribution, we would have been on a paltry score of just 400.Yesterday everybody was saying that this NZ team cannot take 10 wickets of Strong Indian Batting Line up. but today, Sachin ,Laxman, Raina, Dhoni & co. got out without doing much.If NZ post 350 plus score, you will see that the match will be wide open.

Indian's batting 2nd day...
by miviu on Nov 05, 2010 06:00 PM

7 wickets in hand, Sachin and Laxman at the crease with 330 runs already scored..
expected Indians o bat at least till an hour after tea and post a minimum total of 550.
Scoring rate of Indian's was disappointing today.... Harbajan played well for his 50.

The way Sachin and Raina got out, I think ball was coming slow off the pitch...

Don't think any team scoring more than 3 per over now on any day.

Why is Viru more of a team man than SRT?? Here's why!!
by sandeep kumar on Nov 05, 2010 05:43 PM  | Hide replies

I am not a sachin basher like others and Sachin might play for another 5 years and end up with 50 centuries and 50,000 runs, but it will always be Viru who has made victories possible for India, than srt. EVeryone knows that bowlers win matches, and given indias weak attack, they need more time per match, and viru ensures that not only the runs are on board, but time too since he scores them quick. Lets not bring dravids role since his job is to hold one end up, and laxmans role is to rally the lower order. But SRTs role is accumulation, irrespective of the situation. Proof??? His anger when dravid declared to give time to indias bowlers. Viru 195 in no time at MCG, his flying start against eng in 2008, which enabled tendulkar to score a hundred and chase 387. I can go on and on, but its clear that Sehwag will be remembered more as a matchwinner, not SRT.

Yes, i Kind of agree with you, However there was a period of time, when everyone depended on Sachin to pull a schewag (1992-99 probably)
ever since then Sachin has definitely curbed his game and plays more like " A Dravid on a couple of redbulls." I really wish that in his last few years with Indian cricket he goes all out and shows us a bit of the Dominator he used to be. People Fear schewag but respect Tendulkar. I would like to see Fear SRT once more.

Venu.. its utter nonsense.. More often than not you see Dravid wasting too many balls without scoring much. Dravid can never be called a "consistent" match-winner. Sorry bud, he is out of the race... by a long long way

Yes, he is proving to be a consistent no-run-getter for India. Is he still going to lead India into the World Cup??
