I am not understanding the playing techinque of Dravid. The josh and motion of Viru is breaking by Dravid. I think he has to support and try to give more chance of facing the game to Viru. But he has to bat only with single run not big shot. But he is stopping only.

sameer, the same applies to you also. you also have shown so many times that you dont understand test cricket. so perhaps you should also watch only T20 cricket. not that you understand that format either.
you are correct this time. but many times your posts also show as much knowledge as the post of krishna, raj girish, etc.

So, are u suggesting that batsmen need to play slowly so that the test match ends in draw as it used to be in gavaskar era?
Re: Re: Re: What is game plan of Dravid
by Sameer on Nov 04, 2010 12:02 PM
hey buddy Ramakrishnan
Gavaskar era was all about Gavaskar batting out the opposition and changing the result from Indian loss to a DRAW . You really should pay more attention.
You clearly have no understanding of cricket beyond the t20 region. Hell even ODI might be a stretch for you. Please stay away from real cricket .
Watch some t20's instead.
Again FYI : Did I say " Batsmen should score at 20-30 Strike rate" ?

Sameer, your comments are in poor taste. For your info, i have played club cricket which had a good players and i don't need advice from you. We have a good batting line up backed up by bowlers who can bowl out opposition twice. But for that, we need to have time at our disposal. It is a fact that an attacking batsman needs strike at regular intervals and if he is not getting it, he loses momentum. Dravid has scored around 15 runs in 57 balls. That means he has taken most of the strike and not rotated enough! Try and understand what i have written before you comment.

You played club cricket . Good for you. So did I. Now lets get this epeen contest out of the way.
Did you read " DRAVID IS Comming off a lean period in his career"
Since you "Claim" to be some form of cricketeer, you should have been in a position to understand this . I do not see any evidence that solidifies your claim. In fact your way of thinking belies your claim.
Am I saying that Dravid is scoring fast enough ?
Or Am I saying that Dravid is trying to hold one end up ?
Big difference in those 2 sentences.
Yes, I might have been too hard on you and I do appologize for that. Too many tards on the forums has worne out my patience.

but u should remember one thing...India's current winning percentage increased due to the aggressive batting of Sehwag...Before Sehwag era started most of the test matches in India were end in a boring draw... Also, the mighty australians under Steve Waugh was also victorious due to the attacking style of Hayden and Langer who were aimed to take 400-450 runs per day... So, Dravid should change his style...
Re: Re: Re: What is game plan of Dravid
by Sameer on Nov 04, 2010 11:56 AM
wait .. did you even read my message or try to comprehend any form of it ?
Re-READ IT AGAIN!
Did I say " sehwag shouldn't bat like that " Sehwag has been given the license to play as he pleases. Thats why you see him go for his shots even at crucial junctures. There is nothing wrong with that though. There are other players who can play responsibly.
So right now, we have unleashed sehwag and we have a senior player playing responsibly, making sure not to spoil the great start provided by sehwag.
Re: Re: Re: Re: What is game plan of Dravid
by ramakrishnan s on Nov 04, 2010 12:01 PM
Sameer, agreed that someone needs to be bat solidly, but does not mean that you keep the attacking batsmen away from the strike instead of rotating the strike. With sehwag, if he is kept away from the strike for long periods of time, sooner or later he would get restless and gift his wicket. Again, one needs to not let the momentum go.

Ramakrishna
Please don't watch test cricket. Its beyond you. the team technically has 2 days to bat . 160 overs to bat , would you prefer all the players to try and play agressively and get out for say 300 with 5rpo ?
Seriously, please quit following test cricket. I would even suggest that you don't watch ODI's as well. Since both of these forms of cricket demands strategy and understanding.
You talk as though rotating the strike with close in fielders is piece of cake ? Why don't you go out there and show Dravid and us how it is meant to be done ?
remmeber dravid is in a lean period. His confidence is low, he would need the time in the middle to regain form and composition. though I might add, that form is not missing for Dravid. His concentration seems to be letting him down. He needs to get into that zone. Guess thats what he is trying to do.
Comming to Sehwag " he will play his shots no matter what"
he will play his shots even if he faces 1 delivery every 2 overs or 5 deliveries every over.
Re: What is game plan of Dravid
by Girish Nadkarni on Nov 04, 2010 11:48 AM
Yes, I agree with you completely. Dravid's approach will slow down India's scoring rate and will cost them runs and victory at the end. Team Selection should have continued with Pujara. How long we should see Wall dodging bowlers without scoring runs?

I would love to see the so called talented players play in south africa. That will be a sight to behold.

thankfully there's someone like Sameer in this forum who talks sense. Totally agree with your views Sameer. In fact any sensible follower of the game will agree. Hope Dravid and Sehwag continue in the same way - makes for lovely Test Cricket watching.

yep. Though I do hope that Dravid does pick it up a little bit without risking his wicket.

Shali the BCCI tried contacting yuvi he told them he is busy with his new girl-phriend and new modelling assignments so he is not in team
sachin scores 50th test century ,his critics n haters wl say that he plays for records n if he dsnt then they wl say that he should retire n give chance to youngsters.
one more fact that is known to sachin's haters ONLY is he is the only batsman whose runs r never counted to team's total n he takes all his runs home, thats why such fools call him selfish :)
Re: if

I feel they are, infact, not sachin haters but his true lovers. whenever he is not able to score good runs or gets out at inappropriate moment, they are hurt and that's why they critcise him.
