Bare Facts
by Ajai Jacob on May 14, 2010 06:11 PM  | Hide replies

1.Indians think that India is the world no.1 team always though India has been no.1 for more than 3 months only in test cricket.
2.Indians cannot digest that the aussies are the mightiest in cricket with maximum wins.No other team comes anywhere near them in consistency, fitness, technique, adaptability etc.
3.Indians have been screaming that the aussies are not powerful as they were before. But they are going from strength to strength.
4.India won the one day world cup in 1983 and never again.India won the first T20 wc two years before(and may never again at least for the next 20 years).
5.Aussies will continue to dominate cricket making world cricket a one-sided affair demoralising others. So the chances of cricket being played by more countries are slim.At present less than 10 countries play cricket seriously. There seems to be no way out of this black hole other than banning the mighty aussies! This is not possible, hahahaha.

Agree with Mr.Jacob...
Look at the fitness level of nehra or Zaheer.. they were just limping...Autralians are mighty and majestic.. We can never be like australia in cricket... we never had quality fast bowlers... or batsmen who can play very well in bouncy tracks.. atleast in last 20 yrs...

The whole indian media is going after dhoni and indiain team now... wait for another one month... they have lot of matches in bouncy(haha) srilankan pitches.. yuvi and co will score lot of centuries and nehra and co will take lot of wickets... then media will ask who is australia? and say that Loot at the Men in Blue.. they are the stars... This has become more of a usual thing in indian cricket and with media...
Until there are crazy cricket fans, BCCI and Dhoni and co will earn nice money... No one looks for a permanant solutions... they know that indians cannot stop watching cricket...

Not having the confidence to make the singles and convert singles
by kavi kavitha on May 14, 2010 05:36 PM  | Hide replies

Our batsmen are well enough to play big shots. but it will not help all the time.WC T20 against srilanka is the perfect example for this. In IPL some teams have score 70 runs in last five overs. That might be the reason they have defended and scored 70 for last 10 overs. But Scored 90 in the first 10 overs for the loss of 1 wicket. As like NZ,AUS & SA our players not having the confidence to take singles and also how to convert the singles into doubles. And one more intresting fact is no such bowler like Malinga, bolinger.I dont find any bowler to threaten other teams. I dont have a hope, the selectors will concentrate on this.

Gavaskar, IPL- Match Practices on Dead Pitches
by madhava tunuguntla on May 14, 2010 05:23 PM

Come on!!! he(Gavaskar) is truely joking.. In IPL games are played on dead pitches (to allow batsman hit like any thing) for high scoring games and there by more money...
T20 World cup in WestIndies is exactly opposite..... Pitches are rocking fast..short balls..low scoring...how can you go to West Indies with match practice on dead Pitches?
This even an average cricket lover can understand.... Please don't try to support IPL for your greed

Hi Sunny...
by satish chandar on May 14, 2010 05:15 PM

U r one of the patriots who even after knowing that T20 is in the corner, agreed to have the IPL with timelines such that team ll be together only for max. 5 days.. Dhoni had to face the media and tell them stories abt IPL timings and other stuffs.. Now, u ll come again and say that no one shd say timing of the IPL as reason.. As a governing council member, u and Ravi wont know abt the financial things of the IPL, wont care much about the timing of the IPL which will affect the players.. Then y the hell u shd be paid??

What separates Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly..from others..
by Rajesh Shetty on May 14, 2010 05:06 PM  | Hide replies

After this debacle at least, one cant miss the point that it is not easy to fill the shoes of great cricketers like Sachin, Dravid & Ganguly. Its almost a decade and a half, and only 2 men I can think of in terms of performance. One Sehwag, another is Yuvraj, though he is erratic. So at least now I hope people realize that mere hype, flair, cheer girls, parties do not make a cricketer or for that matter any sportsperson. Nothing can replace discipline, behaviour and passion. Which is what seperates the trio from the current lot. Winning and losing is part of the game. But what kind of role models these new guys can become is anybodys guess. In terms of performance, these people wont come anywhere close to the trio, at the end of their careers.

you miss Kumble & Srinath in that list. Infact we can exclude Ganguly frm gr8 list and had for gr8 players playing together for India. I think soon we would see India loose regularly even in tests post Sachin & Dravid.

Bowling was miserable
by chatter on May 14, 2010 05:04 PM

The real reason for the poor performance was the bowling. Zaheer and Harbhajan were hopeless. They just kept getting hit all over the place. They could not check the runs nor take any wickets. Nehra was slightly better but it was not going to be enough. When you chase huge totals you are always going to be under pressure. It is not fair to just blame the batsmen alone. Sure they were not great, except Raina, but they alone did not lose the matches.
