indian players lacked motivation
by sairam on May 12, 2010 02:03 AM  | Hide replies

It is most unfortunate that the the Indian players with the best resources failed to do well at the level where it matters the most.Jadeja's selection was baffling,Indians complete lack of bowlers cost them dearly.I hope Dhoni stops favoritism and players are selected on merit. They need genuine fast bowlers and that means no Nehra/kumars.Its about time these players played for the country.

Our team for this T20 Worldcup : selcted based on past records and reputation rather then Players Form..

Analyze it a little, the only two performed fairly consistently are the two who were at the pick of their Form during IPL, Raina and Bhajji

Big name but not in form during IPL failed : Yuvraj, Zaheer

Too much Cricket is the reason? Well the one who performed the worst is Jadeja, and he hasn't played in over two months...so go figure on that theory..

Bottomline: Pick the team based on the Players Form, and that means Rayudu, Tiwari, Utthapa should have been in the team in place of Yuvi, Jadeja, probably Murali or Pathan..

Dhoni is Good captain? Well, all his successes are in Test matches of lately and we still have Dravid and Tendul playing for that team.. Dhoni, Gary Kirsten and Indian think tank suxed .... Period

Cricket has become a business in India and players are playing for money only, not for country.

dont blame IPL...
by nitin tekriwal on May 11, 2010 09:55 PM  | Hide replies

well its not fair to blame IPL for the indians failure in wT20 cup, but if we see the past records indian usually fails to play on these tracks, most of the players hardly played matches here in these bowncy tracs, also the descision of fielding back to back in two matches, dhoni couldnt learnt from the match against aussie and he again opted for fielding rather than batting first as they are playing with 8 batsmen their strenght was there batting which in both matches they lose to show...what do u think players like warner, jaywardene, nannes, hussy bro's,and more players who also played in ipl and still they are performing here too...so its wrong to blame IPL FOR their wrong playing strategy....

If so, how would you explain Team India's failure in 2009 T20 world cup?

Mr. Dhoni was the sole reason for that failure. Go back and check the score cards. Dhoni kept comming at #3 and failed to score runs. He was even questioned by Gawasker and Shastri that why he keep comming at #3 ?

well its not wrong. if indians players hardly played matches here in these bouncy tracks then has doug bollinger played his whole life on indian tracks he really performed well in IPL didnot he? So open ur mind and think IPL is not helping indian cricket its just the money making where they get 1 lakh for a catch? ITS a Indian Business League. Nearly half of the population is living below poverty line and they are giing money for 1 catch how redicilous? Has Australia played any APL. but they doing well in wrold cup?

Game of Praying or Playing
by Mahesh H on May 11, 2010 09:37 PM  | Hide replies

Today West Indies will pray for India's Win but on the other hand India will pray for WI to lose the match. How funny is this game of cricket which involves lot of praying rather than playing.

Last world cup we said same thing. Why IPL is played before such big envents ? There is no proper thinking. Last world cup exit was done by Ravindra Jadeja. This time also he is going to be insrumental in this exit. To add to that poor captaincy and players lack of determination.

I think all the arguments off over burdened, tired,... is crap. We have to realize that the players are mediocre in terms of talent. To make it worse they do not have the heart, the technique, the will, the effort to compete at the world level. This is the price U pay for rewarding players more than they deserve. Anyway, we Indians have a short memory - one win against the Zimbabweans will change our outlook.
