Re: IPL = WWE / WWF IN 2014

So why are you getting so riled up ? Just sit back and watch the tamasha or ignore it and watch test cricket.
India is also No.1 in tests and 2 in ODIs. All IPL is entertainment for the masses who cant spent a whole day watching cricket and for the players to earn more money.

NO-Actors own IPL>ANYONE but Bachaans for Poona team
by D S on Mar 07, 2010 06:14 PM  | Hide replies

ANYONE but Bachaans for Poona team...

Shilpa Shetty should sell Rajasthan Royals to the state, Preity Zinta should sell Punjab Kings to the state.

ALL IPL TEAMS should be acquired by local State backed by Private Capital(could be local people or local industrialist ).

Common guys, this is rediff, the grammatical errors in this article cannot be overlooked. the spelling mistakes, and so many more things are unacceptable. This is a global sight which represents India and Indians. Lets please focus on the language, let alone the content. I hope this gets to the editor before they spam it out in scanning.

Previously, the bidders also had to submit $100 million bank guarantee to participate in the bidding process which has now been reduced to $5 million

Is it $100 million or $10 million

Modi wants more
by Kuldeep Khatau on Mar 07, 2010 05:52 PM

Lalit modi has delayed the auction so that more people qualify for the bid and so that he can milk more money out of that auction from bidders.

time is ripe to bid good bye to 20:20 and one day games
by subrata banerjee on Mar 07, 2010 05:50 PM  | Hide replies

Enough is enoough and this is high time to bid adeiu to 20:20 and one dayers from cricket field and the victorian cricket with it LORD LIKE approach should be reintroduced instead of making the game a tool of money spinning to attract only sponsors and TV vieweres in order to earn money. STOP MOCKERY AND PLAY CRICKET.

20:20 is the future of cricket whether u like it or not. People like BIG hits and fast paced games. They will have time to watch these games as its for 3 hrs only and that too after a hard days work...so this is an unbeatable combination. Besides getting foreign players into the tournament ensures fierce compitition amoung teams and high quality cricket. 8 Indian players in each IPL team means more youngsters get a chance to show their skill and learn from seniors....

What is going on!
by Sowri Rajan on Mar 07, 2010 05:45 PM  | Hide replies

Is there any regulatory body to monitor what is going on in IPL. Large amount of money will only breed corruption. Bollywood mafia being part of the show will only add fire. It is high time Indian Government takes a closer look at IPL and put a stop to all illegal dealings and activities. Lalit Modi has the distinction of being found corrupt. Tax authorities should scrutinize all records for transparency. Sharad Pawar should stay away from IPL. Is there anyone listening?

not only sharad pawar, there are many other politicians who earn a lot out of this of money spinning game. mafias are already in the place in different attractive personalities. this IPL AND ALL OTHER MOCKERIES SHOULD BE BANNED AS IT WILL NOT HELP OUR COUNTRY TO IMPORVE OUR SPORTS ABILITY IN THE WORLD ORDER.

Terms of Tender Too stringent...
by Rajesh K Parikh on Mar 07, 2010 05:40 PM  | Hide replies

This tender failed due to stringent terms. The relaxed terms, in line with the one that got thte first 8 teams in would mean good and interested bidders will come back and IPL will have 2 more good team owners.

people understand that the cricket has become a money spinning game and make the LORDS GAME INTO A CIRCUS AREANA by squizing the limitations of bowlers with fielding facilities in favour of the batsman. THIS MOCKERY SHOULD END. THIS TIME IPL WILL PROVE THERE IS NOTHING EXCEPT TRICK.

Business of IPL
by om shanti on Mar 07, 2010 04:44 PM  | Hide replies

Business of IPL is looking very ugly now..

India is a poor country,we have so many problems, why invest so much money on one particular game called cricket ?

If the investment be for sports, with the amount invested on one cricket team we can produce ten boxers, shooters or wrestlers who can win gold in Olympics and bring international sports glory for the nation...

If you feel so strongly about it... Don't see IPL matches and get others away as well! TRPs will drop, advertisers will be disappointed and the whole thing will stop...
