The sham that is called IPL
by kalyanaraman s. on Mar 07, 2010 07:38 PM  | Hide replies

the whole thing (IPL and the auction) reeks of corporate shenanigans ! here we are, with millions below poverty line, eking out barely 1 square meal a day and we have the already-enriched foreign and Indian players being showered with more moolah. Add to that, we stupid and ignorant jack....es spend obscenely unbelievable money to go and watch the circus ! are we prepared to buy vegetables without bargaining ? no (as if the 1 rupee that we save is going to make the vendor rich or us poor) !! the bidders - what is their contribution to the society ? corporates and filmy clowns evade taxes, do not do anything for the community at-large !

this place is sick !!

my suggestion to the would-be detractors, who would jump in to defend IPL, is "so long as you are decent in your responses, I will read them. Indecent or insensitive ones will find their way to by trash bin"

cheers

Do you know why our cricketers do reasonably well? One of the most contributing factor is the good incentive they get. The board is gathering money while promoting club based tournaments. Whats wrong with that? Club based rich franchise sports are very common and a good way to develop sports. NFL, NBA, European league etc are good examples of that in western world. And they provide equally good or better incentive to players. Criticizing something or someone is way easy guys..

Finally its money of organizations to purchase teams, our money to view those events. I don't think you will donate your ISP money and stop using luxury called internet (and chat/blog/rant) here to give a poor man 10 days of food. Before throwing dirt on others just have a look at yourself.

none of ur business.. either u watch ipl or go to d central government to protest.. if u r so concerned about the poor man then donate ur belongings.. as corporates r using their money v should not be concerned bout it.. either live in this cricket frenzy place or move elsewhere..

Time has come to do some thing to revive hockey interest in India. Can BCCI & India hockey federation come together for this cause. Also a food for thought to Lalit Modi! Otherwise Hockey might become extinct like our Tigers!

YES TOTALLY CORRECT ., IF WE GIVE ONE CRORE FROM EVERY STATE TO THE TEAM IN A YEAR OF ONE CRORE FOR EACH PLAYER PER YEAR ., I BET INDIA CAN WIN EVERY WORLD CUP FROM NOW ON
CORPORATES OR STATE GOVT COME TOGETHER AND REVIVE THIS INDIAN SPORT PLEASE A HUMBLE REQUEST AS THE AMOUNT IS NOT A BIG FOR ANYBODY FOR A YEAR

More IPL... More Money...
by riyfkm on Mar 07, 2010 07:05 PM

More IPL... More Money..... then Players would be satisfied... they won't have the urge to play for world cup...
More IPL, More T20.. then any person who could just go ahead and hit the ball blindly... would become star... quality would be thing of past...

Waste of Money
by Bholu on Mar 07, 2010 06:42 PM

IPL teams are for those people who have a lot of money to waste. Let non-North Indians waste their money on this enterprise. I am glad that the Punjab team was not bought by a Punjabi but by Bollywood people.

Cricket is now reached in its climax by Modi, now the kind of situation we have in Hockey, its better to give the Hockey board ionto the hand of BCCI and Modi in particular, then hope the situation will change for hockey playewrs too.

I dont think so. has nothing to do with Modi ..it is to do with what the masses want. Modi has channelised an existing demand into money...which the BCCI did not do in the olden days. Maybe you can recommedn Sharad Pawar to rescue Kabaddi too.

no chance unless hockey team keeps winning....it will not get viewers interested so no sponsors and thus Lalit Modi would not be interested...as it seems he is only interested in making money and not promoting sports.....Money earned by BCCI should be at least invested in the Ground facilities at various locations in India.....and then to other sports...but i guess the Admin team in BCCI is only interested in increasing their paypackage......

I don't know why no one gets what BCCI is. Its Board of "Cricket" ... If they are promoting their administered sport how are they irresponsible? Does the Minister of External Affairs starts new trains in India and introduce Educational reforms? No, cause its not his turf. Ask Govt. of India to make BCCI as BSCI (Board of Sports Counsel of India) and I believe they will promote other sports too.
