The contribution is of no benefit to the country nor the people, apart from the thrill they get watching the cricket

To get the higest civilian award, one should do something serious to help the people of the country to improve their living. Cricketers and Bollywood stars make hndreds of crores and give nothing back to the society, which treat them as GODS. Even australian cricketers live Waugh do more charitable work than Tendulkar's.

Sachin has been an austrich and never bothered to take a pubich cause even though he could have done a lot with his reputation and fan foolowing. People like him never deserve anything more than sporting awards.

No way he should get Bharat Ratna. This creket in India has spoiled the total nations Children and they are just behind the creket and not at all in studies. Even Sachin tell in add to give good education for better future of children and nation but it ids not going to help any way except money for Sachin thru advertisements.

SRT fully deserve Bharat Ratna
by LG on Mar 03, 2010 10:39 AM

There is no doubt that Sachin is a rare Jewel of India and he deserves this national award more than anybody post independence.

People who are questioning are nothing but loser whose hearts are filled with bitterness only.

Hi,
Talking about values please remember that Sardar Patel was given the award posthumously as late as ( I think 1992) . And to add insult to injury he had to share it with Rajiv Gandhi. That is Bharat Rathna for you.

What? Bharat ratna to sachin. Rather, I would recommend an award "Selfish Ratna". Instead of giving Bharat Ratna award to him one can as well throw it into shit.

no end to one's greed
by ns girish on Mar 03, 2010 07:42 AM  | Hide replies

In India, awards like Padma Shri and Padma Bhusan have lost their lustre as now any influential undeserving person can win them. Only a few awards are left untouched by influence and politics. If Sachin Tendulkar wins Bharat Ratna, the day is not far when Shilpa Shetty wins for her social service like she got doctorate from Leeds University.

Please don't make these awards slave of rich and powerful.
