The team is missing a genuine allrounder. Jadeja is no where near that and the closest amongst the present seems to be Irfan. He may not be fast but has variations to control the batsmen and also adds to the batting strength lower down the order. The team also lacks a consistent number 3 batsmen. None of them have come close to Dravid in that slot. In the bowling department RP and Ishant should have been tried once (Zimbabwe tour was the ideal platform but was goofed up big time by the selectors) . They may appear to be inconsistent, but if given confidence and backing by team/selectors, they would be very handy to the team. We cant rely only on Zaheer and Nehra, as they are prone to injuries and may severly effect the balance of the team and therby the team's chances.

But it's time to move ahead. He was a good bowler but towards end of his career he started to give more runs.
Dravid Finished his ODI career along with his Captaincy
if he fails in current series..everyone will bash him so he is keeping safe by taking rest so that he can play world cup...why didnt he take rest in IPl

he is a "smart cricketer"....matches are going to be played at "dambula", only pitch which assist seam bowling throught the match....with PAK having full strength seam attack, it's going to be a nightmare for the opening batsmen....there will be no matches on flat colombo pitches...."real smart" sachin cleverly thought to skip this series......rest well sachin

Sunil,
Lets not judge Sachin...he has played for 2 decades for India and even today, india does not have a good replacement in the test and ODI arena. India has performed badly in last 2 months, that does not mean everyone is bad!!

But you have now all the "unselfish" players who doesn't play for records but for the country in the team. Let the play and win the Asia Cup. You should be happy for it. That is all you want. Why are you complaining now? Now we will win Asia cup anyway since "selfish" Sachin is not around.
Sachin Tendulkar drooped himself from Asia Cup because he scare from Rawalpindi express(Shoib Akhter ) he remember when Shoib bowled him on first bowl in India. You people tell.. he did not play T20 Worldcup and also not the tri series again Zim and Srilanka, How much time he needs for rest. He knows he can not face Pakistan Bowling pace. He is the player of dead indian wickets. HE can play in India only. Sachin play for himself just for his own record not for the team of India.
He can play the match with Injured in IPL because of sponsor and franchise money... He feared of Pakistan team and he dont want to get into Indian team when it is in bad shape.. He wants take credit when Indian looses..tat time media praise Indian lost due to absence of Sachin.....Selfish player and run machine..played only for records..

Kiran:
Since you agree that India loses when Sachin does not play, it is indeed a loss for the team that he needs some time off from the busy schedule ahead... ;-)
Ravindra Jadeja is a waste... I DON"T KNOW why he is getting more and more chances ahead of trying with few others good players like of Irfan, Pujara, Dhawan etc....

But Kohli can't play in lower order. Kohli at 3, Rohit at 4 and Dhoni at 5. Raina is useful in slog overs so at 6.

Dhoni is more flexible than others - favorable to bat at no.3 to no.7. when the team is at a comfortable position (obviously due to sehwag) he'll come at no.3 to boost his runs aggregate and career average (scores something by singles and make the run rate drop). When the team struggles, he comes to bat at no.7 - staying at the safest position and can easily blame others for teams performance.
