This kind of match will put test cricket in ICU.The defunct ICC that survives on doles of Asian countries will slowly kill this format which is what most boards in continent want. The only way out is to impose stiff penalties against pitch monitoring comittees of ICC who are shirking their responsibility to provide sporting tracks.
Rahul Dravid is constantly complaining about the shine test matches are loosing because of T20 format.Damn how could he expect people to sit, enjoy and appreciate a batting on a dead flat track with a strike rate of 24? The same ball which they hit out of the park beautifully in 1-day/t20 is left untouched just for the sake of 'TEST' match. this is ridiculous. For test matches to stay they should be played on lively pitches like Aus or NZ..else the end is very near.
Sachin has been a great sportsman with an exemplary record both on and off the fields. There is no point getting concerned about the criticism he faces or even the statistics. Fact is statistics is totally unreliable as it cannot present the actual sitaution on the field. Take for instatnce Sachin's current Double hundred. when he came to the crease, the score was 169-2 and within 4 runs even Dravid was back in the pavillion. We had lost the first test match and facing a huge SL total of 643 runs, and the pressure on Sachin and Laxman must have been enormous. Under pressure even the very best flounder , irrespective of the state of the pitch! that Sachin anchored the innings and savaed the test match for us, can never come out from the statitics! It is also imporatnt to note, cricket is a team game and witout Laxman and Raina supporting him, even Sachin would have failed! unfortunately, in his golden years, when Azhar and the likes were leading India, the team as such was poor and not as talented as the current one. Sachin may have scored centuries when we lost or drawn matches, which is due to team failure rather than because of him. Classic case of us loosing to Pak in Chennai, still is vivid in my memory. That, Sachin got out with only 15-16 runs needed for victory with 4 wickets in hand ( he was struggling with a bad back) and the rest of the 4 guys could not score the 15 odd runs.....I can recollect many such instances.... Statistics never can highlight these facts..
Re: Sachin the backbone of Indian cricket

it's MR . dravid who is the back bone of indian batting lineup....not sachin...probably u wached this innings on this "utterly dead" pitch and come to the conclusion.....over the last ten years it's because of rahul dravid's solid batting at no.3. position that's mainly responsible for india's famous test victories ...sachin never had to face the new ball and fresh pitch b'cause of dravid's solidity at no.3....more or less dravid is a "virtual opener" for team india for most part of his career b'cause of no solid opener of team india....stop watching dead pitch inningses of sachin ...this colombo pitch is not a result oriented and no chance of srilankan victory is expected here..
there is no point in playing with lanka with out ravan so selectors must take powar romesh alies raaaavan in the third test as main spinner ajit agarkar(man of the match in 2003 australia tour only test won at perth ajit took 6 wickets for just 42 runs to bowl out australia for 196 bowl out opposite team twice is the task) is also the best so also irfan pathan ( man of the match of sydney test who played role of night watman in indian second innings and took important wickets as ricky pointing) so wicket taking bowling attack is required and irfan, yusuf, ajit, romesh are best wicket taking squad i have ever seen. play 3 bats men, 3 all rounders, 3 bowler, 1 wicket keeper and one sachin only. Sehwag must try to concentrate more on the batting instead of justifying his errors. when kumar sangakara and sachin can score 200 plus runs what went wrong with sehwag who is having 2 tripple centuries on his credit. LACK OF CONCENTRATION due to easy flow of money because of IPL is the main reason for flop show

Abhi.. Tamil or not doesnt matter.. How the player plays on the day matters.. Even the greats can fail on the given day..
Can u be sure how much Raina will score next match?? It all depends on the track and bowler's rhythm!!
Vijay played OK in this match and companied Sehwag well.. Got a good ball and got out.. Thats it!!

Will you ever post a sensible comment which is relevant to the news?
Our cricketers have lost their virility. Once in a way they play well. After all they are not paid to perform but only to play. One should learn from Ricky Ponting. He has being performing consistently which no cricketer can match. Inspite of having a practical new team he can get the best from the team

Not much in test in terms of runs. He is only 1500 runs behind Sachin and after sachin retires he can score these runs in 1 and half year (if he doesn't himself retires)

well he is about 1700 behind at the moment. And tendy is scoring at a better average. Only thing that is helping ponting is he is playing way more tests than tendy

And Pontings age is another factor. If Ponting doesn't perform well in next year or so. He'll be dropped or retire himself

I somehow doubt that happening. He has been in mediocre form by his own standard for the past 2-3 years

Why is Murali Karthik playing county cricket and getting 5 wicket hauls there..... he is also a tamilian and the best spinner in India after Kumble and Bhajji.... Why is he not considered. In his last ODI appearance for India in 2007, he got 6 wickets against Aus. He is also the best bowler in IPL3. He shud be brought atleast for the test matches against Australia
