Murali you are the greatest!
by Vineet Mehta on Jul 22, 2010 07:20 PM

Hi Murali, you are the greatest spinner of all time, better than Warne and all else. This is a fan speaking, who pays to watch you great players play. Congratulations on your win, though Sehwag is equally great too.

TruthAndFact
Congrats Murali but had Murali played for India
by TruthAndFact on Jul 22, 2010 07:16 PM

1) Murali would've played for TN.

2) After one or two failures he would've been sacked like his predecessors of his state never got have got as much chances as modern day greats like Ravi Shastri and Ajit Agarkar.

3) GR Vishwanath the selection comitee chairman then wouldn't have selected him beyond the South Zone team as he then had a pledge he wouldn't select a player playing for a TN...could've warned him to move towards other states like Punjab, or Kerela to be in contention like he strongly warned Ramprakash and Aashish Kapoor.

5) Murali would've been reduced to a player like Robin Singh delivering in Ranji and Deodar trophies with xenophoic bias would take him out of the national team.

6) In a year time Bedi would've called him a chucker and pressure from inter zonal bickering would've ensured he's out of even the South Zone team.

7)BCCI would've never been interested to back the player and sent him to Australia to get his action cleared as much as Sri Lankan board backed him.

8) Murali playing for TN would've had a lesser stint with the Indian Cricket team than the genius of Ventakesh Prasad who once played for Karnataka.

Zonal and Xenophobic bias is the reason we have gone down. We have never produced a cricketer of Murali's calibre. Rajendra Goel with the highest number of Ranji wickets couldnt get a single international cap.
Look at Dhoni : To survive in Indian sporting scene talent and political/sponsorship connections are equally important.
