i guess roy and raj made a pact that would benefit both of them...the only losers will be the people who will get divided again due to this cheap politics.

I can understand Marsh as appointment, but Reeve...NO. He was a average player in his heydays and there are far more players who will make better bowling coaches than him. Strange selection?
- "I never said we wont select players from Pune". - "But cricket is for whole world and not for any particular city." - " We want to select best players, and at the moment UP is doing really well in cricket and so we would like to select players form UP"
...its upto the owner to decide from where he wants to pick his players from..
but i suspect there is more than what meets the eye, the owner seems to have made this statment on purpose for reasons best known to him...
So guys dont fall for the bait...lets leave this as it is...lest someone like Raj senses this as a business opportunity to cash in and stri controversy (somethign perhaps exactly what the team owner is wishing ...so that he can be in news time and again)
It's utter nonsense to make such a statement...The Team is named 'Pune'...The infrastruture of Pune would be used...Then why make such a statement in Public ??? All Punietes and Maharashtra should object to this approach...If this is the case then Why Blame Raj and the MNS ??? Give opportunities for Pune players also...

I REALLY DO AGREE WITH YOU..! ITS A RIDICULOUS STATEMENT TO SAY THT THE PLAYER FROM U.P. WOULD GET PREFERENCE..WHY CALL IT PUNE WARRIORS?? CUD HAV CALLED IT LUCKNOW NAWABS,OR KANPUR WARRIORS??? ITS SHAMEFUL THT EVEN TODAY THE ROOTS OF REGIONAL BIAS FAIL TO DISAPPEAR..!

both your statments are ridiculous aswell..
Roy has every right to make use of pune infrastructure, name it as pune warriors and yet not select a single player from pune. He owns it...he decides what he wants..fair?
And then we guys have every right to support this franchise or not. And that really would be the best thing as a protest. Fair enough?

Salil:
I thought Jagtap WAS showing his utter disappointment and protest, and he sort of made it clear that he wasn't supporting Pune franchise one bit. But if you think otherwise, I sure must have missed all the relevant points in this discussion so far... ;-)
Kudos to Sahara for making bold statement that the UP players will be preferred. Now we have to see how they cope with the situation once Nationalists Sena group will make his life miserable

Almost all?... Can you please explain? As far as I know there are only 2 teams with royal in their name.. RCB and RR
Why not budding players from Pune? If he wants to use the name and infrastructure of Pune, he should give priority to players from Pune. If he gets a few exceptional talent from UP or any other place it is fine but for average players and the main strength should come from Pune or adjoining areas. I am not being racist as I stay in Chennai and consider both Kolkata and Pune my home town and not a supporter of MNS/SS brand of politics. I am just trying to be rational here. If he is so interested to promote UP, he could have brought the franchisee in some UP city name and also sponsor/patronage UP Ranji and other teams. Why take the advantage of the name and city of Pune without giving back anything?

know this. If this fuels into any type of controversy, the only people to benefit from this would be Rar and Roy. And the only losers will be people like us...so just sit back and relax. Senti nahi hone ka re..
