All the best to you Badrinath. To crack into Team India is no joke especially in batting as there are so many legends and have been performing so consistently for more than a decade.

Younger players just kept getting older waiting for their turn. Its important that he uses this small opportunity to cement his place by the time one of the big guns retire.

Yuvraj will be definitely missed.
by sandeep kumar on Jan 28, 2010 09:00 PM  | Hide replies

What a pity that the fight for No 1 dosent feature yuvraj singh! He's a match winner, and when in the mood can blow opponents off, irrespective of pitch. Sure, he's inconsistent, but if he clicks 6 times out of 10, then India will cruise in those 6 matches. Badrinath is a steady player, but he can't change matches. At best, he can be a supporting act when the likes of Sehwag and Gambhir get going. Hope Yuvraj's back soon. Not to forget his world class fielding, and underrated off spin.

Yes Yuvraj wud be missed coz he has scored 1500 test runs in a career span of 10 years where his contempraries like Mahela, etc have scored more than 9000 test runs at a similar time. Yuvraj shud be thrown out of the Test team immediately. This Casanova doesnt deserve any test spot. Bloody Looser..

The team which has been chosen is for Test Match and players like yuvi is not good for test. we need players who can be consistent like Dravid which badri is capable of doing. All the best to Badri for his sucess and may India continues to be No.1 in Test Matches

Yes it's true that yuvraj has to go...he just isn't adapting to test match mindset and technic...failed to provide the kind of innings that team india needs at the lower middle order...it's time to move beyond yuvraj...test cricket is not his strength, unable to provide the solidity at the middle order crisis ..dosent learning frm his mistakes...on the other hand bandrinath rightly deserved to be in team india in test matches....got good technic, temperament, plays around the off stump realy well which yuvraj struggles at test level....badri plays like "Marwen attapattu" a srilankan opener...similar in style...he is a better equipped player at middle order than yuvraj....at last he got a deserved chance...good selection

Yes he is a match winner no second thought about that, when it comes to test cricket its completely different level. He hasn't worked on his batting he just want to play all the balls, he should take some leaf out of Adam Gilchrist he played all the formats with ease. You just need to adapt to the level of cricket. Which Yuvi has failed to do, having said that it is not his fault of not improving his level of cricket. It is the system which made him to beleive what he has been playing his correct. He just have to change his attitude and work hard on his game. He is a treassure in the Indian line up.Someone have to take care of him.

"When in mood"....

These days, he is not in the mood for cricket at all... Defenitely not test cricket. The slow bowlers even the new ones can trouble him easily....! He has got more than enough chances and he never clicked (except a couple of times in the flat Indian pitches). Test cricket is abt temperament and concentration and staying power. We dont need someone to come and make a 30 ball 42 and go. There are 5 days to play... and this is not ODI...!!

I am a fan of him.... Love to watch him play.. But, only in 20-20 and ODI, which is his forte!

At 29 he is not a Youngster
by dhananjayan ramaswamy on Jan 28, 2010 08:48 PM  | Hide replies

I dont know how come Rediff claims him as a Youngster, though i welcome his inclusion in the team.He should have been their long before.I would have definetly liked someone like Manish Pandey in the 15 Man squad. So that he gets the feel of the international level.

Manish should have been picked instead of M Vijay. He scored 144 on a seaming bouncy wicket n the finals recently. An oppurtunity lost to groom him
