Indian team is also ordinary.India just have a good batting line-up with ordinary bowling and bad fielding. This is not enough for a world class cricket team.
Only aussies and SA'a are above ordinary with teams complete in most departments of the game. They play complete cricket.

Average Indian's judegment value
by Legionnaire on Jan 24, 2010 05:15 AM  | Hide replies

Not so long ago Ian Chappell compared Virender Sehwag to Don Bradman. Everyone in India welcomed his comments and praised his cricketing judgement.

The same Ian Chapell when questions India's bowling resources to sustain its number one position - guess what he is branded as racist and jealous of India, he has no cricket knowledge.

A few months ago Richard Hadly criticised IPL as a threat to world cricket. As expected a large section of Indian cricket fans outpoured disgust and called him senile old man who is jealous of India.

Now the same Richard Hadly praises India and suddenly his analysis is sound and is being applauded for cricket knowledge. Not only that based on his comment so called our armchair experts have given a verdict that NZ is a cultured country safe for Indians.

It just goes to show an average Indian's opinion cannot be taken seriously as their mentality is fickle and their judgment value oscillates between who and when they are praised or critised.

I think its a time me, you & all should understand that if we are praised for success then should be accountable for mistakes and wrong decisions....Indians (inc me) gets so defensive of criticism....but I see good future where we will broaden our capacity of tolerance....I hope it makes some sense...

Why the hell we need approval from everyone.
by Anew Post on Jan 24, 2010 03:27 AM  | Hide replies

ICC ranking shows Indian Team is No. 1. Why the hell media is running after NZ, OZ, Eng OR SA players for approval and asking questions like whether Indian Team deserve No. 1 position. By asking these questions media is degrading team's accomplishment. Every one has right to think what they think, ICC Standard for evaluating no 1 position is being used for so many years and it was same when OZ or SA was declared no 1 and the same evaluation criteria now says Indian team is no 1. So Indian team is no 1. period.

Very good analysis. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to bask in our own glory by ICC in the case of #1 ODI spot, becoz ICC is racist, unethical and totally anti-India.

But in tests ICC is a very good organisation and we should only listen to ICC and not to players from NZ, OZ, Eng or SA.... :)

new zealand is not like australia
by Devdutt Nayak on Jan 23, 2010 08:55 PM  | Hide replies

from what i have hear, they seem to be using their eduction in daily life, as against Aussies, and many of us here.

Of course I've not been there and they probably have not been tested yet.

But they play a sporting game. Unlike Aussies.
That Fleming fellow, and Vettori, they have a heart for a real contest unlike Aussie cowards who want Umpires to help out.
(Just something I keep reading/hearing about NZ...)

:)... When NZ will beat us, then I am sure your views on their sporting nature will change dramatically . . :)

BTW, what cowardice and Umpires help did you spot in Australia's recent win against us in the ODI series on OUR home grounds? :)

I hope someday you will grow up and learn that Sydney 2008 was just another episode in the series of Umpiring blunders, including the ones happening in India (ask Dilshan..)... :)

In cricket I consider a role model for all countries that play cricket. They are a small country with a limited amount of resources and not many talented players but all their players give 100% on the field and truly play for their team and country, not for their own glory.
Plus unlike the Australians they play cricket with their hands and not with their mouth. They do not think it is necessary to to insult and abuse and cheat on the field to win. How different from their neighboring island. Even India can learn from how New Zealand players do not put their egos first and always apply themselves. A good indication of application is in fielding which they work at very hard.
New Zealand do not win many games and may never be number one. But I am a great fan of their team as they truly exemplify what the game is all about. I think highly of India too but NZ shows that cricket is not simply about winning and records but also about sportmanship and decency.

Did Australians played with their mouth and not hands when they defeated India 4-2 recently in India, or in 2005 when they won series in India?

Or when they won 1999 WC in England, 2003 WC crushed India in final, and 2007 WC they won in WI, or 2005 ICC CT in India and 2009 in SA.

Man, look at the facts, none of these big tournaments were played in Australia and their team completely dominated the tournaments, irrespective of where it is played.

Contrary to Australia, India's performance in competitive cricket has been miserable. They were first round exiters in all major tornaments except for 200 T20WC.

Shrikanth,

Please see what is happening after the 2007 WI world cup. Do u think they played and won fairly against us in 2008 tour down under? They have lost the ashes again and even in the last two series were almost beaten in the tests by WI and Pak. They are not the same without Warne, Mcgrath, Gilly

Yes, they are not same without Langer, Hayden, Martin, Gilchrist, Warne, Mcgrath, yet they are winning!! They are still the side which all sides want to beat. They have played finals in 5 out of 6 worlcups since 1987 and won 4 out of them. Their test record during this period is envious. For a cricket fan who is only interests cares a damn about what their behaviour is, its about winning matches which they do so. BTW Indians shouldn't be giving moral lecutres to others as they are also one of the worst behaved cricketers around.

Kalyanasundaram:

Do you think we played fair and square in Kolkata 2001??

Do you think we played fair and square against Sri Lanka in recent test series?

If the answer is yes (with normal umpiring mistakes) then you too need to grow up and learn to put Sydney 2008 behind you instead of telling your great grand children about the Sydney test.. :)

And good to see that you have no answer to our 2009 loss which S Shrikanth mentioned... :)

To become real No. 1, Team India will have to beat Australia in Australia and South Africa in South Africa. NewZealand, Srilanka, Bangladesh, West Indies are 2nd/third Rated Test teams in the 9 Nations world of cricket.

The competition in Test cricket has shrunk to Australia, India, SA and England only.

Sir Hadlee wants a coaching assignmet from an IPL team?
by Shri Hegde on Jan 23, 2010 08:35 PM

if not, then we can take his words on the face value. But it\'s true that India can\'t stay at No 1 for long, since they can\'t beat the other good teams consistently. Even the ordinary Bangladesh could have given them headache.
