After Ian Chappell mentioning that India lacked champion bowlers it can solve this problem by using the horses for courses theory and split the attack based on the conditions. For ODIs the solution is finding the right mix of pace and accuracy and Zaheer, Nehra and Sudeep can do well with average of about 35 and Eco rate of 5.5 in the sub-continent.
In the Test arena, Zaheer can get either Sreesanth or Ishant in India and both of them overseas. This make the pace attack more effective overseas with pace and bowling strike rates.
Since it has already used this scenario, and reached number 1 Test team, I don't see why it cannot maintain it. With the emergence of Kohli, Jadeja and Sudeep it will also field a better side with great fielding in the ODIs.
In the Test arena, the overseas attack can be boosted further with a well rested Ishant and even Sudeep can back them up well.
