Consistency = you play ur best potential every match law-of-averages = you fail in one match in 10 matches played for indian experienced bowlers - (zaheer, harbhajan, nehra) Consistency = you play ur worst potential every match law-of-averages = you play well in one match in 10 matches played
India's performance in the opening one-day is bad.Though they batted first and scored 279, they did not perform a good batting.India's main minus is the fielding department, they should improve very much.Zaheer's bowling and fielding in this game is not good.I request the board to give chance to Irfan patan who happens to be a good all-rounder.New comers like Sudeep Tyagi and Ashok Dinda should be given a chance.I hope India will perform well in the remaining games.I wish the team Best of Luck.

very true..if irfan bowled badly before and was dropeed, why not zaheer ?
He skips tour of Bangladesh to avoid tough playing conditions in lively Asian pitches whereas he wants to score heavily (of course- for personal recoreds)in easy Australian conditions against weaker teams like Australia!!! (That's why he has more centuries against weaker team like Australia)
Australia won almost every close match when they were on the top of world cricket, be it PAKISTAN (with Imzamam/Waqar/Wasim); or West Indies (Walsh/Lara/Ambrose) or South Africa (Cronje/Donald/Pollock) or India (Sachin/Saurav/Srinath).
Just compare the current crop of Indian cricketer. They win such close matches mostly when OPPOSITION looses it more than they win it. One ridiculous instance of lack of cricketing brain is when ZAHEER took a catch on a no-ball of NEHRA and he and other players not aware that is was a no-ball (free hit). It was THE HEIGHT of lack of attentiveness. This team can be world number ONE but more because the world cricket is not that competitive as it used to be. This group of CRICKETERS from INDIA are fortunate that they do not have cricket fierce competition, otherwise they would have been not many places.
Also not seen a superb fast bowling spell for edges where good YORKERS, ANGLED bowl, bouncers with deceptive slower ball rattle the middle to late middle order (as WASIM/WAQAR/DONALD/MACGRATH/WALSH/AMBROSE) used to do in their prime.
The world cricket is MEDIOCRE as on today, if you have to say that this INDIAN team is eyeing WORLD number one status and is very near to it.

Get rid of the pathetic Aashish Nehra.. he is always crying when someone smacks him and try to show that it was a good ball and how can the batsman hit him for 6? He looks like beggar from the streets of Delhi.

Munaf is really a fine fast bowler, but sadly is not being recognised and has been extremely under utilised.

vaibhav ,,, ur right .. we do not hv any great pace bowler in any country .. which will be threat to opposition ,,actually ICC do not want such bowlers ... they just want 1000 runs in all one days ... it is really mediocre cricket ... it is not at all competitive cricket ..

@vaibhav -- Samaraweera, who was at the non-striker end & closest to umpire, yet he wasnt aware that it was a free hit !!! common, u r just finding ways to blame Indian cricketers. There were no 20 over power play, free hit of a no-ball when many of those great fast bowlers u mentioned were playing.

You can not defend the callus attitude of indian cricketer. Samerweera lost it, does not mean that indian players, also can be blind to it. That's why I feel that world crciket is mediocre as on today.
Defending a callus and careless attitude could be very generous but its not acceptable by a team very close to being world number one. You can not be winner by being casual in any walk of life. Just making efforts is not enough is toda;ys world, and then you can not just excuse this approach. No way.

Well said bro. You need to know cricket and be very analytical to analyse like this. It is the ultimate truth that though indian crciketers are very rich and BCCI is richest body, but their cricket is mediocre (percentage crikcet). It is noway near to what we have seen some 5-10 years back.
This team has not won many matches due to their efforts (close matches I mean). Experience bowlers are consistently disappointing for last 1 year or so. Dhoni is also loosing his sheen as a leader of such inconsistent team.

Dhar I am talking of overall affect. Remember he even gives right advice to bowlers. Team is like headless chicken without Sachin. You must be kidding or a kid, to play down the importance of a legend.
