Honesty is your best policy Bhajji

I admire Bhajji because he speaks his mind in general. Frankly speaking, the Motera pitch was a hopeless surface for test cricket. If the BCCI continues to prepare such pitches around the country in the coming decade, test cricket WILL die in India. There has to be a balance between bat and ball. I know it sounds like a cliche but the Indian board is not doing enough.

The IPL T20 culture is slowly destroying Indian cricket. The sooner the BCCI realized this, the better. Now they are scrambling to schedule more test matches instead of ODIs and T20s this year. I think that's a good start.

BCCI is opportunitistic & money-minded...it is trying to arrange more tests only because India has reached no.1 rank in tests..when the ranking drops, the public interst will go down in tests and BCCI will also change its color..shame on BCCI.

Don't add Murali to that list.
by Manu Zach on Jan 02, 2010 11:14 AM  | Hide replies

Muralidharan, at his peak could turn the cricket ball on a glass surface, and was a wicket taker on all surfaces irrespective of the conditions. He was mighty successful even on seamer friendly pitches in England and New Zealand. Now a days, he is nearing retirement and well-passed his days as an intetrnational cricketer. It can bes said that, Murali has fallen to the level of Harbhajan due to his age and injuries.

I'm surprised to see his figures in recent ODIs and still he's called the frontline bowler, anyday sehwag is a much better offspinner than him

If pitches are made bowler friendly then why do we need genuine bowlers, even part time bowlers can take wickets.

Pitches should be made so that a 5 day test match should go to the 5th day and should have the life for 40 wickets to fall.

If a match ends in 3 days, cricket fans will feel cheated. If the match ends in a draw and no excitement left on 5th day, fans will feel cheated too.

Unlike ODI or T20 where a result is guarranteed, Test matches will suffer if they do not have excitement left on 4th/5th day.

He is an expensive and ineffective most of the time. Just like J Srinath who would start sweating in the second over itself.
