It is high time cricket is taken to smaller centres like Moin-Ul-Haq in Patna, the outfield is superb and the pitch is of standard quality, all international matches played here have produced good results. Why cant they consider Patna, there are so many cricket fans out there and it is second best city in India to do business after Delhi according to a World Bank report.

The bosses sitting in Bombay decide where cricket will be played. The sole International cricket centre in UP Bihar is Kanpur. This is shameful as cities like Patna, Agra, Allahabad, Lucknow, Varanasi can not host International matches. Worst, Kanpur has been denied any match of WC 2011 due to poor attitude of UP Govt. So, its all over for UP Bihar who together command over 25% of population in India.
In the recent times, barring a few exceptions, matches are only played in State capitals as politicians are now head of Cricket associations. But for cities like Patna, even Lalu when he was very powerful, could not do anything.
It is a pitcher's game. A batter lasts under 6 balls on average. 54 batters get out in under 4 hours. 3 strikes and you are out - and that includes swinging and missing (getting beaten). Many Indians don't like it, but once you are hooked you will know what I am talking about.

the biomechanics of a cricket bowler is much more smoother, safer and efficient vs a pitcher...plus it adds a lot to the game....pitching is uni-dimensional ...cricket balls are harder byw and are more heavy ...plus batsmen have a lot of craft to apply as against a batter in baseball who just has to know and practice to hit a full toss in a predictable area...the less said about the fielders and fielding in general in baseball the better... theres no point comparing two different games...but if you do cricket is any day moore interesting and tougher

You probably do not know about breaking ball, change-up, slider or knuckle ball. Plus there are no dead balls - you have to run once you hit. Not everyone can score bases in baseball. You need to be really skilled and sharp. In cricket, even a tailender can score a lot of runs. That is why, even though it doesn't have that silly hurry of a 20-20 game, a baseball game lasts under 4 hours. Ideally, cricket should be made less batsman friendly.

'Ideally, cricket should be made less batsman friendly.'

Even their fielders can't catch that ball with bare hands. Just give them a brand new cricket ball. It ia popular because of USA where many more crap games like American Football, WWF is played.

It is a lottery, this baseball, something similar to 20-20 cricket BUT MUCH WORSE. It is a disgust in ther name of sport. Even carrom is better.

Cricket came out of baseball. But being a very long game, it could not be popular in developed world, and yet not able to attract as even a T20 match takes 3.5 hours to complete. Maybe a 5-5 over match could be popular. :-))

And even in high school level matches, the crowd is awesome. In cricket, people only like to see International matches.
Baseball, American football, basketball, ice hockey etc are very high intensity games and they last only for a couple of hours. Thats why Americans like them.

No, athletes from all over the world rush to play these games in America. Isn't it Right?

In modern cricket, wickets are being made batsmen friendly for commercial reasons. 2 decdes back wickets made hostile to the visiting teams and bowlers were very powerful. The last hostile pitch was seen in 2003-2004 NZ-India series in NZ where star studded Indian team was crushed by Shane Bond & co.
Now everywhere (including Australia) pitches are made to suit Indian batsmen. The reason is obvious - BCCI commands over 80% of money in crickets and dictates its terms on cricket associations of of other countries.

Because like any Indian, you are also fooled by GDP and Sensex figures and do not feel the 20% food inflation even it is burning you.
Harbhajan Singh has the right point to tell that why pitches are consider dangerous when its unplayable by batsmen.. Thay should ban on playing pitches which r like graveyard for bowlers too...!!! otherwise, such pitches will kill some of the best bowlers of world cricket..!!
Re: Nice One from Bhajji..!!!
by S Shrikanth on Jan 02, 2010 12:46 AM
Motera or Kotla, both are not game friendly. They hurt the game.
But Bhajji is a stup1d cricketer. In 2004-2005 he had critizized Kanpur pitch spinner unfriendly, and Kumble took 6 wickets in an innings on the same wicket in the same match. :-)
Bhajji is appreciating Mumbai wicket because he did well, but criticizing Motera because he was thrown to wall.
