The Great Sachin

Some people are comparing Sachi & Shewag. Shewag is really best batsman but SRT is god of Cricket.
Decide who is great?

Why not award Bharat Ratna to Dhanraj pillay then? he rose from slumns to be finest forward in hockey- the national sport.
SAchin grew up in a well educated & rich family & had all luxuries while Pillay inspires us more how to overcome adversities.

Actually, Bharat Ratna should feel honoured with Sachin......
by vijay on Feb 27, 2010 04:01 PM  | Hide replies

and even this world's highest honour may be nobel prize (if it was for sports ), must have been bestowed to sachin, no that particular honour would have felt honoured to perpetuaity .

look, at my points in detail aspects...

Its crystal clear, that sachin is the person to influence 120 crores indians in this modern era (each indian), it was Gandhiji previously.

Now what is his influence or total impact on us or even the planet at large?

Looking by his karma gestures n humbleness, on india in particular n world in general, no one ever has given (not achieved ) more in the modern era .

What has he given (not looking at what has he achieved's angle), happiness, self belief ,joy, true art , majesticity, confidence.
n countless more undefined.

he earns crores but thats a medium of life, do we want materialstic pleasures really, or the art of spirituality.

spirituality coz... when a person becomes higher than his karma, he attains salvation or moksha.

just look at him n u wud see he has achieved that, n we hav got some of it by sheer watchin him.

and for critics, good n correct criticism is important but wud u criticize the SUN for burning us to flames of envy, jealousness n
desires.

SACHIN is the world's only modern surviving legend till now in his 37 years in this planet.

so "Sachin being GOD of cricket" is correctly hailed in this

Bharat Ratna for Sachin???
by jinu george on Feb 27, 2010 02:35 PM  | Hide replies

As Mr. Vasudevan rightly pointed out, Cricket is seriously played in just 9 countries out of 200 nations in the world. It is not even an Olympic sport!. Rather than putting individual milestones could Sachin manage a single world cup for India? Remember he was not a part of 20-20 world cup winning team.
If at all somebody from the sports arena is eligible for Bharat Ratna it is none other than Anand Viswanathan, the World champion of Chess in three different formats. My view point is that even he is not eligible for the prestegious Bharat Ratna award till he plays a lead role in winning an Olympiad Gold for India.
Let Bharat Ratna holds it value unlike all other awards.

Re: Bharat Ratna for Sachin???
by VASUDEVAN V on Feb 27, 2010 02:57 PM
Mr.George, even winning cricket world cup cannot qualify Sachin, for where there is `world' in it? Played by 12 nations, of which 6 make up the numbers (Bangladesh, West Indies and 4 nations like Kenya, Nairobi, Ireland.....)it is wrong to call it the world cup in the first place. While I do agree Vishy has not helped India win the Olympiad Gold, playing on the top Board mostly at the Olympiad he performs well, but his supporting partners are not upto it. Unlike cricket, where some leading batsmen can carry the team through even though it is a team game (when Viv Richards scored his 189 n.o. out of West Indies total of 272 way back in 1984, WI was 102/7, 161/8 and 166/9 before Holding added 106 for the last wicket with Viv)Chess does not offer this luxury for even here it is one-on-one for the team of players. Of course, one should not forget Abhinav Bindra, who has won the only Olympic individual Gold for India. My contention is Sachin certainly does not qualify for this. Next, someone may say he should be given Paramveer Chakra for standing upto the bouncers of opposing bouncers! Given the Sachin mania, the nation has gone bonkers really!

True that cricket cannot be recognised as a world sport, but Sachin's greatness lies in the fact that he's been instrumental in unifying the whole nation..Cricket may not be a world sport..but here in INDIA its got more importance and that's what matters.Period

Dumbos..its bharat ratna not vishwa ratna..Sachin has brought smiles n pride to almost every indian in the country. tell me any other person who unites India the way he does. Lata Mangeskar got bharat ratna too cuz she is a genius not because she has to win grammy n sing in any other lang than hindi to prove her mettle.

this is for all dead-brain morons who keeps blaming sachin for not winning wc...
had he been captain of any indian wc team so far...
does he controls indian bowling when he plays in wc...
did not he took india to wc 2003 finals where that greates captain ganguly handed the cup to australia by fielding first on a batting pitch...
was not sachin player of tournament in wc 2003...means he did what he could for india... it is other 10 players who failed...
did not he score 65 odd runs in semi-final agaainst srilanka in 96 wc whereas all other batsmen could not make a toal of 50 runs...
list can go on but it will be too much to u/s for these morons...
even if sachin was part of a wc winning team then they will find fault that he did not score enough runs or bowlers were responsile or susch and such player took catch thats why india won wc...
all these critics of sachin have done nothing in their life and never will... for them to criticize sachin is their only way to get some attention...

Sachin is an indian and he is produd of it. Can you say the same thing of Sena and its goons?

Tendulkar is already a Bharat Ratna - no need for this!
by Talisman on Feb 27, 2010 01:35 PM  | Hide replies

Indian politicians just cannot stop participating in someone else's glory. Tendulkar as a sportsman is loved by Indians. He knows that. There is no better award than that!

These politicains want to take advantage of his popularity. Nothing else.

Stop talking about his total runs and his age. Let him entertain with his god given talent. Everytime a sportsperson achieves something significant, these guys try to bury their ambition with these stupid awards.

These awards meant something once upon a time - i.e when we had honest leaders. Now, you give these awards to anyone with a political clout as it was shown in the case of a hotelier from US who is corrupt to the core. Tendulkar doesnt need this.
