The Games should be held at NIGHT only as the advertising revenue is more and ticket sales are more!! But, IPL must compensate for the power usage at rate 10-times that normally used by Industrial Companies!! I am sure they can contribute that!! I feel all the state governments should take a stand and take their pound from Lalit Modi and the IPL!! They have been seriously exploited by them!!

Why should IPL pay extra. They are also another consumer like you and me. They will pay in whatever slab they are in. It is the incompetence of the Governments and State electricity boards which is causing such situations. The same guys who filed the PIL will infact be actively involved in pilferage of electricity by tampering their meters and bribing the linemen to bypass the meter circuit. Such is the attitude of communists. Why was such PIL not filed in Mumbai or Chennai or Bangalore. It is because the systen in these places are working well unlike WB which has got completely destroyed due to communists. Moreover IPL is like a stimulus package. Last year the elections were the biggest stimulus package and this year it will be the IPL. I believe IPL is threatened and hounded by all and sundry in this country because everyone sensed big money and weak muscle power in that. If IPL gets shifted out of the country it is the biggest slap on the face of Sonia, MMS, PC and PM. They will ever let that happen.

u r right that many people bribe electricity linemen or tamper with meters....... but how can u say this happens only in WB?????? it happens everywhere in india........ one more fact u need to know....the total amount of electricity stolen by 100 common people is nothing if u compare with the amount of electricity stolen by 1 private factory...be in anywhere in India....even ur TN, AP, Karnataka or kerela..... and by the way how do u know these people are communists??????? dont start labeling stereotypes again..............becoz some1 can quickly say comething abt ur being a south indian.... so better think and write........

dada.....its nothing abt communists.........or any region... 2 citizen of this country have raised a genuine concern...... obviously if IPL is confined to day time...it will loose a lot of revenue.....and we would loose on entertainment part..... but some solution can be done...AS SUGGESTED BY CRICBUFF

i agree. most of them are match fixers. one of them who is close friend of Rahul Gandhi has reached the parliament also.
most of the games played at night -are dirty games- not forall-but for adults--young students need study and common man needs rest and peacefulsleep, police needs to protect the common people housesin night and stay alert during day--how can these possible if the national agencies and national energies are used for dirty games--like cricket--IPL is for money,by money and of maoney--it is going to make cricket already a dirty game more dirty

what bull shit in the above argument. Whatever u donot like is it bull shit? Nodoubt , when common man is facing acute power shaotage what is rationale behind wasting energy for few fools?
Go to small town and villages and see what is power situation. Are they not the citizen of this contry?
dumb heads didnot realize that most people have office in the day time (and ofcourse night is comparatively cooler than day)...business runs based on demand...ask the team owners and the organisers to cough up more money as tax and security charge, power charge etc.
also business of more advertisers and sponsors will reach public when it is night for the same reason mentioned above
tickets of day night affairs shall be charged higher tax rate than day enconunters......some additional taxes can also be imposed on ground associations or d organisers..people wont hesitate 5 to 10% more price for day night games.
THIS PIL IS OBJECTIONABLE AS IT IS NOT IN FAVOUR OF COMMON MAN . IF SOME ONE WANTS TO DO FOR COMMON MAN OR SAVE ELECTRICITY THEN FIRST HE SHOULD CUT THE USE THE ORG. WHICH HAS FILED THE PIL MUST BE HAVING FULLY LOADED AIR CONDIYIONED OFFICE FOR THEIR LEADER . AND ALL THE PEPOLE AND CHILDREN LOVES TO SEE THE NIGHT MATCHES IF THEIR IS 24 HRS POWER CUT ALSO THEN ALSO WE SAY THAT WE ARE CRICKET LOVERS , CRICKET IS OUR GOD . FOOD , SLEEP EVERITHING IS IPL. SO THEIR SHOULD BE ONLY NIGHT MATCHES

Just because of Cricket crazy persons like you, other games do not get promoted. I am not a cricket lover. Who says we are?

How will rescheduling the matches during day time instead of night time benefit the common man? It would only lead to traffic problems as the cops would be deployed for the matches when offices are working in full swing. Again, the demand for electicity would be immense during time. The common man would watch the matches neglecting the office work. The public goes to watch the matches because it loves it and hence pays for it. Am totally amused by this PIL and am sure the supreme court would take a hard look at it. It would interesting to find out whether a similar PIL has been filed for foot ball matches which are played against club teams!
