Badri and Vijay need to learn lot from Sehwag & Mishra
by sreenivasulu reddy on Feb 20, 2010 03:35 AM

TN players need to learn a lot from Sehwag on how to play cricket. After getting the tips from Sehwag, then they can practise. If they think Sehwag is too much, they can get the tips from Amit Mishra who is far better batsman than Badri and Vijay.

Present TN players are so scared of facing Steyn and CO. Don;t know how many pportunities they need to prove.

Team man?

Sehwag is great no doubt abt it. I am proud that he is an Indian.
For ppl who compare sehwag and sachin,
tell me how hitting 6 on 94 will help the team?
is that not for personal satisfaction.

In cricket the team that scores more runs win not the team that made faster. So sachin is playing Ideal cricket.
Instead, if cricket is abt strike rates then sachin would have played better.

Sehwag is a luxury India can afford due to strong middle order, period. When the middle order failed 2 yrs ago, sehwag was dropped.
For the matter of fact, any player plays for himself. A coach looks for personal achievement and not abt his home country.Similarly match referess/umpires who are once players work for themselves.
Y cant an umpire cheat for his home team? Dont talk abt honesty and integrity, the same person as a player would have nicked and not walked.

How come Kirsten played 10 yrs for SA pride and now he wishes India win against SA.Wasim wants to be India's bowling coach. Sandeep patil coached Zim. He would have wished India to loose when he was coach.

Bottomline, playing for team is bullshi*t. Its all the so called 'Professionalism'.

Guys,
just 2 things I have to say:
1. ANy game is a mental game too...With the fearlesslness of Sehwag, he easily dominates the MINDS of the bowlers who in turn defensive...SO its a practical.rewarding strategy.

2. Ia gree his style is affordable because we have a strong middle order But then guys its a TEAM GAME, we Dont need 11 Dravids Or 11 Zaheers or for that matter even 11 Sachins....A GREAT COMBINATION OF PLAYERS IS MUST!!!...so lets enjoy Sachin and lets also enjoy SEHWAG...they are not mutually exclusive !!!

very good point , Schewag has the luxury to play like this...just concider the last test if schewag would have failed he has nopthing to loose..because we will say thats how he plays..but if
Sachin the whole world will start blaming ... schewag ha never carried the expectation of India as much Sachin has carried....yes on their day Schewag is much more destructive then schewag and can win a test match single handedly ..but Sachin can unite the team for his success..... Sachin's contribution is beyond the run he scores.....

you are wrong. hitting a 6 when on 94 is not for personal satisfaction. who said so? hitting a 6 despite the fact that you have the option of taking the easy way out by wasting 20 bals for those 6 runs is not personal satisfaction.

every player plays for himself. ok. but it should not come at the expense of losing a game. and one of the ways u can lose a game is by taking 20 balls to get from 94 to 100.

@Mr.ICC regd ur comment
"ne of the ways u can lose a game is by taking 20 balls to get from 94 to 100" - which game are u talking abt?
If thats in Test matches 20 balls is no big deal, having the wicket intact is important to the team.
If ur talking abt ODI's, well sachin shows the way to play big innings. He sure slows down on 90's. But if u see, whenever he makes a century his strike rate is almost 100. Also, in ODI a set batsman makes a lot of difference than a new comer.
Unless the team requires 30 in 30 or 20 in 20, there is no use in throwing the wicket trying for a 6.
Having said this, noone wants sehwag to change his style. Its just that in tests, sehwag is an accessory while sachin, dravid are necessities.

Bhai, i agree hitting a six when on 94 makes no difference to the team, but the point here is sehwag is not scared of losing his wicket and hence missing out on a hundred. Other cricketers, take least risks in getting to their century which means, they value their personal milestone. I am not saying it is wrong, but while for others achieving a landmark of a century is important, sehwag is not bothered about getting to a century and in the process loosing his wicket. Therein is lies the difference.

"my philosophy is, see the ball and hit the ball"
That sums up Shewag. Wish we had more, not just cricketers but individuals who operates like him. A simple and uncomplicated approach yet devastatingly effective! Hats off to this great son of India.

people will miss shewag more than sachin actual cricket lovers
by tim jim on Feb 20, 2010 02:24 AM  | Hide replies

those who know the sport deeply will miss shewag more for his flamboyant style rather than trickle and then sudden charge then trickle tricke till century comes of sachin though sachin was flamboyant earlier in his life but now bowlers dont fear him to that extent as they know tendulkar usually gets out by 8 or 29 or max till 40 but shewag score minimum 89 . tendulkar doesnt amdit it but his time has gone now its just a matter of hanging on to reach some milestones which is tantalisingly close for him and he deserves though but i along with rest of cricketing folks including some srilankans ive met who adore sachin say if you have to retire go out in a blaze of glory his last match played should have him scoring 150 or even 300(a milesetone he never could achieve) but thats ok

If u analyse Sachins performance in last few years in test u would say he has become better player now..with the support of stronger team Sachin is performing better ...just think if he would have got such strong team throughout his career where he would have been....only other player who took the burden of his team was Lara.. and the results shows where Sachin took Indian cricket and where Lara took WI cricket

This is how Delhi cricketers play. They never play for records.

But Mumbai cricketers play only for personal records.
