Ishanth to go back to domestic cricket
by Shalini govindraj on Feb 18, 2010 10:02 PM  | Hide replies

I dont know why Dhoni keeps praising Ishanth (See his comment that he is coming back to rhythm) despite a majority of people including veteran cricketers/commentators comment on his poor bowling performance throughout 2008 and now. I have never seen Dhoni commenting on Ishant's poor bowling performance. He keeps telling that he is coming back to rhythmn. Can we affort to give him so many chances so that he gets back to rhytmn when so many medium fast bowlers are sitting in the bench. I think Dhoni has got some favourites and he keep promoting them. Selectors should understand this and if necessary remove Dhoni from his captaincy (He might be a good captain otherwise, but we cannot allow this)

Dudette,
Thats the way most succesful captains operate. When they see potential, they promote and believe in guys who are going through rough patches.
If Sourav didn't do that, we wouldn't have Sehwag playing today.

I agree and disagree. I agree because captains should promote people when they have rough patches. I disagree because he cannot promote persons when he is having rough patches for a longer period or indefinitely. In the case of Ishanth, he appears not to show any improvement except in patches. This only indicates that Dhoni has been only promoting his favourites.

after 1st test against BANGLADESH, ishant appreciated SEHWAG that shows he (ishant) is SEHWAG's favourites.

YAHSPAL SHARMA (selector from delhi) was behind picking ISHANT. Dhoni picked ishant bcoz sresaanth was not 100% fit and dhoni had no option

Shalini Madam, please go back in history and have a look at how miserable Sehwag's performances and form were when Ganguly believed in him. The whole country (my guess is including you) wanted Viru out of the team and was gunning for his head because it was a prolonged miserable form for a few seasons.

As Sehwag rightly says in all his interviews, he won't be playing today if Dada didn't root for him.

Probably your right sir but I think that he should go back to domestic cricket and rectify his errors for staging a good comeback like what Zaheer did in past

I think your are correct in this issue and for his height he can bowl 140's speed but he is not doing that and he doesn't possess a quality bowler till to date

I beg to differ. Although Ishant may have had a poor run in the last few tests, he fired in this test. The bowling analysis does not do justice to the fact that he actually set up the SA collapse in 1st innings around tea time. He bowled a barrage of short deliveries and the batsmen (Amla and Prince) felt unsettled. That set the conditions for Zaheer and Bhajji to rip through. So in all fairness to Ishant, he's getting his rhythm back. Again we should not judge his Test potential based on ODI performances.

It was not dhoni, it was SEHWAG who is saying that ISHANT is coming back to rhythmn.

ishant played in this match bcoz Sresaanth was not 100% fit. ISHANT is in the team because of YASHPAL SHARMA (selector from north zone)

ENCOURAGE DEFEAT
by phaneeswar on Feb 18, 2010 09:59 PM

I think we should also encourage India if they are defeated and I was really happy after India loosing first test because their hidden defects were vomited i.e their spin defects have came out and this test spinners bowled brilliantly and took the burden when a player like Zaheer is out. Congratulations to the team for staging a brilliant comeback.

All the credit for wining this Test goes to Team India. It was a team effort that India reatined number 1 spot.
Here I can see some neagtive comment. It is very easy to seat at home at comfort zone and write some negative comment but it is not possible for these culprit to do anything good in practical life.
Guys wake up it is celebration time. Indian cricket team made us proud.
Unity is streangth.
