Jimmy was our original "Wall". It is said that he was once bloodied by a Windies bouncer. He did not flinch, and the very next bouncer he hooked for a six. This was one of his trademark shots. His trademark defence is just as appreciable. He could ground the fastest ball to complete halt and then push it to the bowler to pick it up. He would take time to settle down ( a concept that is today outdated ! ) and once settled, he is solid and unstoppable, a treat to watch.
Its nice to see such people around. So humble but never concious of their greatness. He was a fantastic player and team man. What a will to perform. Everytime he got kicked out he would return with renewed vigour. I remain a great fan of his.
