Had he been a trembling cricketer who suffers in big event like world cup final, India would not have won the 1983 world cup. Amarnath can be known for his 'MAN OF THE MATCH OF WORLD CUP FINAL' effort for centuries.

Jimmy contributed heavily in 83 final and was/is one of the great stars of Indian cricket. But I remember it as Srikanth getting the man of the match for his 30 or 40 runs? in the eventually low scoring final.

I was little off...Just checked the scorecard. He scored 26 runs and claimed 3 wicket in 7 overs giving 12 runs

The only World Cup victory that India has ever achieved, was possible in large, thanks to this wonderful cricketer. Inspite of the presence of "stars" since 1990s, India has never been able to replicate the effort.

As i have remember,when i was watcing the W/H series (1984) in Aug under Kalil paji leadership,he had performed a gr8 cricket through the year after having a world champ in 83.He used to play with half T Shirt with round white Cap.He was the only player in indian squad who played hook shoot very cleanly.Even now a days i never seen any player hook on bouncer.Seems dont want to take risk of injury...Any way he is memorable person,i ever watch his show which comes on DD1 on sunday in nintees at 10.30 AM.I always slute to the gr8 personality....Cheers..Jimmy

Mohinder Amarnath is a class, a rare class beyond compare. A complete team man and a complete player. He was the best player of pace at his time, acknowledged by Windies themselves. All his runs scored and wickets taken were precious and invaluable.
