sehwag average against SA = 51. if we omit sehwag's triple century then sehwag's batting average against South Africa slides down to just 34 in 17 innings. Reason for sehwag's poor show in those 17 innings: SOUTH AFRICA DO NOT DROP CATCHES and Sehwag's batting always rely on LUCK .

If you leave out 2-3 poor innings from his list, it will still be 42 , which will be considered good. Statistics can not be looked in isolation. Same way if you remove 2006/07 3 Test series his average will be very good (even if you remove the triple century). So do not try to pick up an odd statistic to paint a poor picture of a successful opener.

I feel pity on your self created negativity!! Nothing else to say but to refer Lara "We delayed the declaration as India has Sehwag and if he can score at a brisk pace, India would have had a chance". He said during post press conf replying to a question on his strategy, while India was touring WI some time back.

Nobody flopped, its part of the game, you cannot expect to hit bulls eye everyday,if you were on the field ,you would have known...
smith showed great cricketing sense to declare, he has declared at a competitive score, giving India a chance to play for a result and keeping the match alive. He didnt even waste time for personal records like amla's 300.
