neverthless i see nothing wrong with that..after scoring 100..its really imp not to get injured and miss 6th world cup. Works to his personal gain, and his personal gain = india's gain. Righto?
Ricky Ponting's adopted kids are on a wane these days. Their father is struggling to put bat to ball. How hilarious it was watching them dance like insects after a fresh rain some years ago hoping that he will break Tendulkar world records. Poor souls, their foster father couldn't fulfill their wishes and they have to now hide in their rat holes with no other option left.
So now since their foster father Ponting couldn't fulfill their wishes, they are now trying to make Jacques Kallis adopt them as their kids, once again hoping that their future foster father will one day be able to break Tendulkar's records.
The beauty of the game is the beauty of the players performance that matters to entertain the cricket lovers and enrichment of the game itself. There is no use if milestones remains in history and the interest in the game is lost among the public. So the cream of a game is the sprit of play by everybody in the interest of the game itself than other considerations. Milestones are fine if it strengthens the reputaion of the game itself otherwise onece the papers are burnt nothing is left unless the game is alive and liked by the public.
Only 20 hundreds have helped India win matches.Out of this 11 have been against Bangladesh,Zimbabwe and SriLanka. Everybody knows that till 1995 Srilanka also was like Bangladesh. ThisGuy has only accumulated runs that's all.He is a very good player who has played over a long period of time. If he was in Australia after the age of 35 the media would have been against him especially if he is not captain. The real cricketers are those who are Captain and perform not be like a Kid.Other things that have benefited him is historical strong batting line up of India on Flat tracks. Indian Cricket fans feel just as there is noone to replace Nehru Gandhi family, there is noone to replace Tendulkar. His Tests per century is nothing different from KAllis or Ponting. Actually Kallis 's Tests/Centuries or Ponting's although he is captian is better.

There are lot of instances that because of Sachin, India reached finals and survived in tests. Just because his 100s does not help india win matches doesn'T mean that he is just scoring. In a match agaimst pakistan when India has already lost 4, siddu was on strike and when ravi shastri got out, sachin came in. And the very first ball hit him to his nose and he ducked down, blood was gushing through his nose. And still he played and India went on to win that test Match. Just like that He has not earn accolades. Just like that everybody in india sits comfortable if sachin is on crease.

@honey gupta. Nice story about Sachin getting hit on the nose and India winning the test. Care to give details of which test it is. As far as I know India did not win a test in Pakistan in that series. LOL

As far as I know there were 10 other players who had equal responsibility to ensure that India wins.

Huhumba Lulumba, and the other 10 did just that and for the first time we returned from pakistan undefeated in the test series. srikkanth was captain. it was due to batting of sanjay manjarekar, azhar, siddhu, shastri, kapil etc. that we could save that test series.

and for your information honey the bowler who hit sachin on the nose was playing in his first test (debut) for pakistan.

Mr. Smarty pants, even a fool knows that it's not Century per Test that counts, it's Century per Innings that counts. Let's examine shall we -
Tendulkar - 49 centuries in 284 innings = 5.85 innings/century
Kallis - 37 centuries in 241 innings = 6.51 innings/century
Ponting - 39 centuries in 255 innings = 6.53 innings/century
Re: Re: Nothing Great

sachin 284 innings, scored 200 runs 6 times, 284/6 =47.3 innings for each 200 plus score.
not a single triple century in 284 innings.
sehwag 144 innings, scored 200 runs 6 times, 144/6 =24 innings for each 200 plus score.
2 triple centuries in 144 innings. one triple century missed by 7 runs!
sachin 284 innings 14366 runs i.e. 50.58 runs per innings.
sehwag 144 innings 7550 runs, i.e. is 52.43 runs PER innings!
bradman scored 29 100s and 13 50s, 80 innings 42 times more than 50 that is he needed 1.9 innings for each 50. 80 innings 29 100s that is he needed 2.75 innings per century! 6996 runs in 80 innings that is 87.45 runs PER test innings! In first class cricket 186 50plus scores in 338 innings that is 1.81 innings per 50 plus score. out of 338 first class innings 117 centuries i.e. 2.88 innings for each century! 28067 runs in those 338 innings i.e. 83.56 runs PER innings.
sachin in ODI 431 innings 139 50 plus scores i.e. one 50 plus score each 3.1 innings, 46 100s, i.e. 9.36 innings per century.
Kohli in 37 ODI innings 14 50 plus scores i.e. one 50 plus score each 2.64 innings, 4 100s i.e. 9.25 innings per century!
LOL, the insects have no counter argument to the above data and are hence quiet.

Exactly my sentiments. Well said Sir Rajesh Ratan.
Sachin's records are about longevity and not greatness. He was fortunate to be picked at the age of 16 and persisted with inspite of average in his 30's for almost 3-4 years of his career.

dear jaya, it is easy to equate a great and an ordinary by way of mere fortune. for that matter everybody who had achieved hell lot of things are only fortunate enough to achieve that. don bradman, federer, tiger woods, pete sampras, messi, michal jackson, president of usa, prime minister of india all who have achieved have achieved only because of fortune and not because of anything else. is it ok for you.

he has scored 9 centuries against them not 11... in 60 matches india has won when he has played he has played 95 innings and scored 20 centuries and 21 50's so a 50 score in every 2nd inning his avg is 70 in matches india win..
Draw is also a very imp result in test patch and india has drawn 69 matches with him playing 99 innings in them.. he scored 19 cebturies and 25 50's at an avg of 65
india loose a match when he doesnt perfrom thats why the 45 matches ndia has lost when he played his avg is 36 and he scored only 10 100 and 13 50's
so clearly india win or draw a match when he perfroms.. ur stats are rubbish..
