Dravid should retire now
by boy inmood on Aug 07, 2010 07:20 PM  | Hide replies

I am not writing this to complain about his poor performance in the recently concluded test series, he is too good a batsman to not be able to come back and start hitting runs again but what I a afraid of is that sooner all the big three would retire and board should concentrate that the retirement doesn't happen in the span of 5-6 months, it should be smooth enough for players replacing them to get into some kind of groove. This is why I feel Dravid should retire now and make way for Pujara. Not Rohit Sharma, he is just an over hyped batsman. Pujara is the best batsman in domestic circuit and he should be giving adequate opportunities. Dravid has been a great performer, no doubt but even he would agree that he is nearing his retirement.

See the job of Rahul..he is more like an opener..when any early wicket falls his job is to blunt the pace bowlers and make them tired...he has done that very well which subsequently made it easier for the batsmen following him..

Time for Rahul to call it a day. He may still have some cricket in him to offer but its better he conserve it for Ranji as well as IPL. He has done enough for the country. He has been the wall. We cannot forget his contribution.

Bring in Cheteswar Pujara. Give a chance. He has a good track record. This fella is promising.

precise footwork, timing is good, balance is good, not troubled by pace and bounce, not struggling or edging the deliveries .....only thing is got out at the wrong time and not to a wicket taking deliveries.....still a quality player against any attack on any kind of pitch....deffinately not a "flat pitch bully" or not lost his game.....dont know what u guys sit n watch when he bats.....such an "idiotic" and nonsense comments against most consistant and reliable player.....that shows ur complete lack of knowledge abt batsmenship and test cricket.......no.3 position is the most important in test cricket , best player for any test team plays at no.3 and is not meant for every domestic flat pitch bullies.....have some cricketing knowledge especialy batsmenship.....dravid is a "vital" player for comming AUS and SA tour....indian team success is largely depending on him for the up comming series...

Laxman is superior than the so called stars !!!
by suryanarayan bhaskar on Aug 07, 2010 07:18 PM  | Hide replies

VVS Laxman is much superior than the so called Stars like Yuvraj. The problem in India is a player like yuvraj keeps gettting chances because he is a good ODI player. Now Raina has proved that he is better than Yuvraj. There are many players who ae better than Yuvraj for tests. I hope the selectors understand than and keep for for ODIs and T20Is.

Kudos 2 Indian team victory

In this Excellent Victory, almost all Senior players played their part well & to mention particularly the Genius Sachin saved the test for India & Now Laxman played for the team & Victory.

Of course other players also contributed to greater extent. Just imagine how Sr. Players R required for this Indian Team especially in Test Cricket is well predictable by every loving fan.

The only disturbing moment is our Wall Rahul has not performed & his performances R diminishing day-by-day who has 2 watch his cricket. I Love this wall to score for the Team once again.

Also to the outside cricket world & to the BCCI Cricket Administration to the Media's & Sponsors "Why the Low Profile Batsmen Laxman being treated in a different manner with much partiality is a Big Question 2 B asked by everyone?

Let all give credit to this perfectionist who is playing for India.

thats becoause he is not Sachin. If sachin scores a hundred the media creates a big hype and if another other players scores..its usually pushed under the carpet.

Though Laxman has scored a century, I feel he should retire from test cricket as it is obvious that he is aging gracefully.

Just non-sense. A long as they perform well they need not retire - Age 15 or 50 does not matter.

People, lets stop comparing players old and new, senior or junior.Lets enjoy the victory and stop spoiling it by criticising each other. We all are indians, not east/west/south/north indians.

well said. it is team contribution that matters. If we notice, in Australia they do not glorify individuals; also individual players do not play for records; records get created as part of their contribution; sometimes 40~50s are more important than centuries; key is someone to chip in with variety in bowling and focus/sharpness in fielding

I am not belittling the Indian players accheivement...but India could play later in the day due to the defensive mindset of the Sri Lankan captain...his field placements were not upto the mark...rather he should have a more attacking field set...anyway my hearty congratulations to Team India for their effort..

Laxman should retire now with grace
by Sakhi Sawant on Aug 07, 2010 07:02 PM  | Hide replies

His performance is shrinking day by day.
His fielding, running between the wickets, reflexes are downgraded.
He can not do anything due his increasing age.

In last 4 innings where pitches were batting heavon, he scroed only once.

He should retire gracefully, else people like Rohit Sharma will get a chance when they will be old.

How many chances does Rohit utilised for his betterment?

I think U R running out of Sense to say like this.

Hence, Better sense prevails 2 U by asking for Laxman's retirement & Rohit's recall.

Apply ur mind & write the msg in the Board.

U Moron,VVS has scored 279 runs in 5 innings at an average of nearly 70; the only century he scored was not on a flat surface by any stretch of imagination. When it comes to fielding, he has taken the most number of catches in the Indian all time list, after Rahul Dravid, who holds the world record for a non-wicket-keeper. Fielding in the slips is a special skill, something that young Raina, the best fielder in the team, discovered while standing at the 3rd slip. Please dont open your mouth and broadcast your ignorance to the world at large.
