SHARES OF RR AND SHILPA SHETTY
by damodaran mohan on May 01, 2010 01:46 PM

During IPL-I, Shilpa Shetty was actually brand ambassador of RCB and was seen cheering for the team alongside Vijay Mallaya. Then just before IPL-II media reports appeared suggesting that Shilpa shetty had purchased 11%(eleven) stakes in RR and even the corresponding exact amount in crores appeared in the press. That time itself doubts arose in many minds as to whose money it was , that is whether it was Shilpa's or was she fronting for somebody ?But it was strange that at that time itself neither the IT nor any other govt. authorities raised any questions !Now after two full years and after the Modi-tweet snowballing into a 'scam' that the IT and other Authorities seem to have suddenly woken up !Hence more than Lalit Modi it is the IT and other Authorities who need to explain more to the people of this country on their inaction so far.

Fact is that...

1. Indian Taxation, Investment Laws are so complex that even Indian Government does not understand it fully.

2. If you ask a C.A or Govt of India for clarifications - either you will not get any OR answer will be YOU CANNOT DO IT - simple.

3. It becomes impossible to do anything in India because of this.

We urgently in Tax Reforms, to make them simple, and meaningful.

Sensationalising the news

this is absolute nonsense. Money was received in the name of Raj and Shipla into RR company and the same was notified to IPL. Does BCCI or IPL, take the permission of Income Tax department and FIPB to show their names. The these people put their black money, it is for RBI, Income Tax dept to investigate. If I invest in a company, the company will show my name as share holder. No matter from where I got my money. The company need not go and ask Income Tax department about the legality of the transaction before alloting shares to me. If this is prevalence in India, politicians like Amar Singh, Jayalalitha, Sharad Pawar and many in India holding shares in many company need to be questioned before their name is entered in the register of members in respective company's share holders register. Shashank is just covering up the fault of non-entry of names.
