Lalit modi has brought lot of disgarce to cricket through IPL. A region where cricket is a religion, Lalit ushered in dirty glamour, black money on its pretext to mint his own coins.

Nice logic... When the media accused Tharoor for his role in IPL franchise it was fine but if the same media says about Modi, its the anti-indian group.

Please look at these facts...

What about Modi using his influence in getting

Global Cricket Ventures (GCV), which has bagged digital and mobile rights for the IPL and the Champions Trophy until 2017, is linked to the son-in-law of IPL chairman Lalit Modi, Gaurav Burman

Gaurav, the brother of Mohit Burman of Dabur, a co-owner of Kings XI Punjab, is a director in Elephant Capital Invests, a company which has put $10 million in GCV, to own 50% equity in this Mauritius-based company. GCV, an online media and broadcast company, was set up only last year and within a few months snapped up various cricket related digital rights.

Another Modi relative associated with the IPL is Suresh Chellaram, a Nigeria-based businessman who holds majority shares in Rajasthan Royals. Chellaram is Lalit Modi's sister-in-laws husband.

Hey guys...all of u need to take a break from bashing modi, zinta, srk, pawar, mallya. Is there anyone else that u havent spared? The point is in any billion dollar venture, there is likely to be a bit of corruption and some money exchanges. In fact our businesses are a lot better than the western models, ex lehmann brothers, which collapsed due to the greed. This controversy will soon die down once a couple of guys involved resign. I am a techie with Satyam hyderabad, and I am proud of my Deccan team. Local boy SUman has been awesome, and hope he gets into the Indian team. Thats the beauty of IPL, helping unknown outstanding players like Gony,Pathan,AShwin to play for their country. Let corruption not overtake this beautiful passion called cricket, which is shared by 1.2 billion people

Is this the same Tharoor in UN?
by Hemant Naik on Apr 19, 2010 05:37 PM  | Hide replies

Is this the same UN officer from India who contested to the UN secretary? There was a case against him of bribary when in UN office and hence USA did not back him up and asked to take his nomination back. If so, then I can certainly agree how will be his way of work environment. Does not need to say he is clean. If he can do it in UN, then in Indian government, he will definitely do it as it is a practice in here. If you need information may be you can find the news article published anywhere during the recent UN secretary contest period.

Dmeonisation of Lalit Modi
by Manish Varma on Apr 19, 2010 04:43 PM  | Hide replies

ET article is bull.shit and all rubbish at the behest of Congress (I). It was to happen one day as Cong. (I) is known to punish anyone, who stands taller than Cong. leaders and doners. Those, who have seen Aviator and know about Howard Hughes will know most certainly that Lalit Modi is a man worth praise and laurels. Those, who know corporate finance should not be surprised at the way money has come to Lalit Modi. He can most certainly justify income from Long-term investments. Everyone in high-finance corporate sector would know that big projects like ESPN disribution for a country generate losses at the beginning, but people remain invested in them to have profits later. May be he made some money, but what is wrong in it? He is as justified as Barista's promoters - the son of Margeret Alva - a Cong (I) leader and AirTel's promoters - Sunil Mittal - son of Cong. (I)'s treasurer in making money, while being in power. Will COng. (I) govt. take action against Margaret Alva? Will it take action against Sonia Gandhi, because an IT software contract of Sahar Int'l Airport was awarded to a company, which was indirectly owned by Rahul Gandhi? If not them, why Lalit Modi??

He is no saint for sure, but not as devil as being presented to be crucified. If he belonged to Cong (I). He would have got Bharat Ratna by now for the same level of corrpution. After all, Quattrochi was acquitted and so were Dhirendra Brahnachari and others.

He is as clean as Cong. (I) leaders and corrupt officials. So why raise a finger at him? All said and done, if people can remember people accused of taking bribe in connection with Bofors as Martyrs, what is wrong, if someone has given money in the land of corruption? Relatives??? Hahahahhahaha. Cong. (I) has its own culture of giving key positons to relatives. Look at Jyotiraditya Scindia? WHat is his qualification for being a minister, except that he is son of late Cong. (I) leader Madhav Rao Scindia. Besides, who knows that offer of Rs. 225 crores is a fig of imagination just to malign Modi. All said and done, he has created Indian equivalent of European Football League or American Superbowl. Hats off to him. If he is corrupt, name a single power holder in India today, whom you can call clean. So, if one has to choose one among corrupts, what is wrong with Modi. At the end of the day, he has delievered the results and can be credited with creating Indian equivalent of European Football League.

But you are obviously pouring your support for someone who is nothing but corrupt and power hungry. If Throor goes then sho should Modi. No one needs a Modi to run IPL. EPL is not run by one flamboyant individual nor does Superbowl. Where one person is in charge like in F1, it's nothing but corruption and controversies.. Modi should be out but I am sure Manish Varma might get a job in his MET..Go meet Modi's galfriend who's its CEO ..hehehe

You don't need Modi today to run it, because he has made it successful. But who made it successful?? Give Devil his due. Do you even know, who runs EPL? Do you know that there are growing resentments against F1 championships in Europe, because of anti-smoking lobbies and F-1 runs on the money of tobacco lobby? Take tobacco companies out and F-1 comes down and what do these tobacco companies do? Selling Cancers?? So in your view, spreading incurable disease like cancers is a saintly job and creating a dream project in India is a dastardly act?? Get your facts and logic right dude!! :-)

During the meeting Irfan was officially told of his selection and congratulated by everyone. Sami was welcomed back into the team whilst Irfan was welcomed for the first time and told that the real hard work begins now.

"I'm going to be fitted for my official Pakistan kit tomorrow, then I'm to report to the NCA on the 23rd to join the team before we fly out on the 24th."

"I'd like to thank my parents for all their patience and prayers, as well as all those who've supported me in my cricket career. From the first day that Nadeem Iqbal spotted me to this day when I've been called up to play for Pakistan." said an emotional Irfan to Cricistan.com.

I reminded Irfan that he had to carry on the tradition of Pakistan debuting left arm bowlers in T20 World Cups. Tanvir was a success in 2007, Aamer in 2009 and hopefully Irfan will do it in 2010.

I asked Irfan if he had anything else to add and he was very adamant that I include the following quote.

"I'd like to thank the people behind Cricistan.com who've supported me from day one. Just over a year ago, I'd given up cricket and I was working as a foreman in a plastic pipe factory when Abdul Habib (currently with Cricistan.com) arranged for me to meet Aqib Javed who was then the assistant coach of Pakistan. When Aqib saw me, he was so impressed that he asked me to come back to the NCA the next day and then my journey began. Habib and Cricistan.com s

Habib and Cricistan.com supported me even through the bad times, they were there to reassure me when things weren't going as planned and congratulate me when things were going good. They never gave up on me."

"I would like other organisations and companies in Pakistan to learn from Cricistan.com and to also extend their support and sponsorship to other youngsters as well. There are many youngsters in Pakistan who can’t dedicate time to following their sporting dreams because they don't know anyone influential or because their families need them to be the breadwinners. Initiatives like this one are needed to help more sportsmen achieve their dreams." said Irfan in a message to businesses and organisations in Pakistan.

If Irfan debuts for Pakistan then at 6'10 he'll become the tallest player to play international cricket in the history of the game. Previously Bruce Reid and Joel Garner were the tallest at 6'8 but Irfan has 2 inches on them.
