Dhoni admitted his limitations
by Ujjawal Verma on Apr 19, 2010 08:45 PM  | Hide replies

Excerpts from TOI article -
On his own innings, he said, "It is well known that I rely more on power. I am not a technically refined batsman so I used my strength on a small ground to clinch the issue."

It is well known that he uses raw power. It is surprising that he does not even try that in some matches and scores at less than 100% strike rate and finishes his team's chances. Also he did well to come at no.5 rather than no.3.

Excellent Performance by CSK and DC
by Jomesh George on Apr 19, 2010 07:26 PM

Teams that overcome do or die matches has every chance of winning the title like Pakistan did in the last T20 WC.So i think Chennai who chased down a big total and Deccan who defended a moderate total in a crunch game can be underdogs. All credit goes Dhoni whom i remember played a similar innings in WC against the same team finishing off the match with a six against Jerome Tayler.Hope his batting and captaincy skills r at best in the T20 WC.

what a match yesterday between CSK Vs Kings X1 Punjab. Its really heart breaking match man. When team need 15 RPO. How cool Dhoni playing. He knows well about him self and he have a confident on himself. Traffic batting stuff from Dhoni. And what a great Leader leading in the front, Mr Match Finisher... Finally CSK enters in Semi final. Now CSK have to Face Deccan Chargers in thusday. Dhoni Boys have a ability to defend the 2010IPL title. Interesting to see the viewer Choice IPL awards.

Irfan Pathan should retire now?
by sai krishna on Apr 19, 2010 01:50 PM  | Hide replies

It is better Irfan Pathan should retire from all forms of cricket, becuase now-a-days he is fit for nothing. Once upon a time he was my favourite Cricketer every body predicted him as true replacement of Kapil Dev. He lost his pace, Swing everything. He gave 16 runs in one over, okay batsman is Dhoni, against Deccan chargers he gave away 12 runs in one over. In his below medium pace about 125 Km.ph. if he bowls overpitches and short pitches evey Manoj Tewari in one IPL Match took 21 runs in one over of Pathan. So to save himself from further embrassement it is better for Irfan Pathan to retire from Cricket, because as a great fan of Irfan Pathan it deeply hurts me to see one of my favourite bowler and crickter is butchered in that manner.

he gave 16 in just 4 balls.. if he had bowled another 2, would have been 28 in an over (assumming no wide, no balls).. hahahaha...

CSK the most consistent
by Sharath Mohan on Apr 19, 2010 01:19 PM  | Hide replies

CSK becomes the only team in IPL to feature in all 3 semis so far. Shows the consistency they have been achieving till date.Hope we can see a MI VS CSK final this time.

CSK has been lucky.During their batting maximum catches has been dropped. The matches where those catches were taken they have lost.Yesterday Dhoni has survived twice,so luck is with CSK.

Boss those catches which were dropped were frankly difficult ones. Sanga atleast got a hand to the rising ball, our Indian keepers would have left it for a boundary by jumping just after the ball go by.

Chennai fielders have dropped lollies and dollies and that too by good players. Thats where we were unlucky, we don't mind players dropping tough catches like how Morkel dropped Marsh and how Tyagi dropped another one yesterday.

Simple rule for Chennai to win IPL3:
by C W on Apr 19, 2010 01:11 PM  | Hide replies

1.All pacers should be foreigners, do not select an Indian pace bowler
2.All Indians should be spinners and batsmen
3.Do not chase against DC
4.Chase against MI

So ideal team would be:

1. *Hayden (or Hussey) - only Batting
2. Murli Vijay - only Batting
3. Raina - Spin bowling and Batting
4. *Morkel - Pace bowling and Batting
5. Dhoni - Batting and Wicket keeping
6. Badrinath - only Batting
7. Badani - Spin bowling and Batting
8. *Thushara - Pace bowling and Batting
9. Ashwin - Spin bowling
10.*Bollinger - Pace Bowling
11.Jakati - Spin bowling

- Total batsmen in the above team = 8
- Total pacers in the above team = 3
- Total spin bowlers in the above team = 4

If Dhoni agains picks players like Tyagi, Balaji, Muralidharan, Goni and Joginder Sharma, then we can forget about winning IPL3, we just jave to be happy with atleast a 3rd time semifinalist

Seeing the outform of Hayden & Hussey, i would suggest to have kemp in place of them and nitni inplace of thushara.

I could agree with you on Kemp but not on Ntini.

Ntini is a good bowler no doubt, but is it worth taking a chance to test his form after such a long gap and that too in the Semis/Finals? Moreover he can hardly hold the bat, where is the flexibility to hit a few runs when needed?

Whereas Thushara has been tried in IPL3, he bowls really tight overs when needed and can also bat. Thushara should no doubt be in the team, Ntini could have been tried and tested in the league matches but not in the Semi/Finals.

Hussey and Hayden are just in a bad form but if they click, CSK is unstoppable. I think its worth taking a chance with these highly experienced players.
