corection. ipl-1 losers at the bottom were winners at ipl2. now ipl2 losers at bottom r toppers in ipl3.
This topic has been blown way out of proportion. Why is this so important for our politicians to waste public money & time in discussing trivial issues like IPL franchisee ownership. There are far bigger things to focus on - naxals, storm in bengal and bihar, inflation. Time for media to be more responsible and stop giving so much importance and coverage to such non - issues
Why did Lalit Modi didn't object to the share holder information in the beginning of the bidding process. So is he telling that he was totally unaware of the people who were bidding for the franchise. In that case, the bidding process was a total flawed process and Modi has to take the moral responsibility. (I highly doubt that, especially when big shots like Videocon, Adani, Sahara are involved)
The total ownership pattern of all the IPL franchise is not disclosed, Preity, SRK, Ambani, Shilpa,.... they represent the franchise but it is not still disclosed the entire ownership pattern (that is why Modi said that he will bring those inf: after the IPL tournament).
So if he has not cared to disclose the inf: of those franchise for 3 years, why did he have to ask for those inf: from the Kochi team? and that through twitter. I would also like to shed some light to the pattern in which the bidding process was altered mid way in such a way that only 2 teams were eligible for bidding - Videocon and Adani. Later this was dropped when there was wide spread criticism and BCCI had to set things into order.
I am not saying that Kochi franchise has not done anything wrong. I seriously doubt a lot of black money is floating in IPL. The best method to clear all the smoke, is to go through a vigilance enquiry to all the team and have the source of their funding known in public domain.
(AS PUBLISHED DNA NEWSPAPER dated 15th April 2010) Jaipur: The business interests of Lalit Modi’s family in the Indian Premier League (IPL) are not limited to franchises alone.
Documents available with DNA reveal that his relatives also have a huge share in the coveted online, digital and mobile rights to the event.
Interestingly, the rights were transferred to his relatives, including his stepson-in-law Gaurav Burman, through a maze of transactions spanning the globe but routed through tax haven Mauritius.
Modi’s rivals alleged that the key digital and mobile rights to the IPL were passed on to his relatives without the consent of the BCCI at lower than original prices. Modi or his relatives could not be contacted for comments.
The story began in April 2008, when the BCCI and the IPL entered into an agreement with Live Current Media (LCM) Inc, a Nasdaq-listed company, for web rights to the IPL and the Champions League till 2017. LCM was given these rights for a whopping $49 million to be paid in instalments.
In March 2009, the contract was revised downwards. Through a novation agreement (legal document that substitutes an old debt with a new one), the BCCI and IPL agreed to transfer the original contract to Global Cricket Ventures (GCV) Private Ltd, headquartered in Singapore for just $20.75 million, raising several eyebrows.
GCV later entered into a joint venture with a Dubai-based company, Netli

The bureaucrat said the Gaikwads hailed from Solapur in Western Maharashtra, but are not known to have significant political connections. Rendezvous Sport also has its main office at Solapur. The official also expressed surprise over the Gaikwads association with the Kochi team.

Here you go use this link tells it all. He is former congress MP from vadodara and belongs to royal family of vadodara. He lost last electing with huge margin. Now I know why narendra modi is in picture. I don't know why they didn't speak out against modi before tharoor controversy. I am sure if n modi was involved congress will not leave a single opportunity. But to save tharoor this guy is bringing in N modi.
