Pressure from Tharoor and congress Govt.
by abhi on Apr 13, 2010 12:22 PM  | Hide replies

well good pressure from Tharoor and congress Govt.It has good example that when first time auction was held there has only 2 bidders and that was Adani and Videocon group if they have interest in bdding for IPL Team so why they dont bidding at that time.So think......if they buy team at 1533 crs. so why they dont bidding at first time.well first bidding was cancell b'cause good pressure from Tharror by congress govt.....Just think of it........

First bid was canceled because Modi changed the bid rules to remove certain bidders.

why the people don't like a man who dares to say spade a spade
by pankaj goel on Apr 13, 2010 12:22 PM  | Hide replies

I don't understand why the people don't like a man who dares to say spade a spade. He is a great guy bringing laurels to the nation. IPL is such a great event. So many people enjoy it. It shows india's supermacy in the game of cricket. We love to talk about NBA, English County, Australian open, Wimbeldon. What is the problem u have with IPL and the man behind this mega event!!!

Rightly said. People have great difficulty in digesting when an Indian does something world class. Only when success of IPL becomes a case study in some phoren university, will our people speak good. People dont have any sense of judgement of their own, can't even judge what is favorable or not. Need a foreign opinion on everything. Shame on such people.

Tharoor is in a wrong country
by Sree Kumar on Apr 13, 2010 12:18 PM  | Hide replies

Without being prejudiced against Tharoor, I feel he will do well if he does not proceed with making this an issue. Lest he end up with a lot of egg on his face.

Brlusconi & Sarokozi can get away because they are in Europe. Unfortunately Tharoor is a minister in a country of cattle class people!

Since all available evidence shows that he has used his resources and influences as a Minister in swinging the deal in favor of Koch, Congress cannot brush this aside as a personal matter of Tharoor.

Knowing the importance Sonia Gandhi & Rahul Gandhi attaches to probity and clean image in public life, Tharoor a just a kick away, a kick which he deserves well.

Thats true. His responsibility is towards kerala and he lobbied for them. I dont see an issue with that. If he has used his money or states money to buy a team then that is an issue.

A drug peddler's brother-in-law can own a team and his brother is having media rights. Do you think he's not routing money and influence? Basically this is all money power dude. People who lost the bid they're trying their level best to check Kochi out with their money and political influence. If RSW owners details is sought and wanted make it public, then it should happen for all other teams and what is the connection of these high networth individuals with BCCI, IPL and any political bigwigs. CBI should also probe these individuals source of money they invested in these teams

what are the returns in ipl.. are they good enough for someone to put in $333 million
first season bidding itself looked overpriced..
$333 is way too much for estimated returns
what is the driving factor.. please update

For a consortiums, i really dont know how they will get back money. Only thing makes sense is converting black into white. For estableshed corporates like Reliance,Kingfisher, its about brandbuilding. Without giving a single ad in TV, Mallaya can advertise from UB Breweries to Kingfisher airlines. No one needs any introduction. Apart from this they are going to get the TV/gate revenue. lso there is oppurtunity for going public through IPO. So,corporates will always gain. But the individual /consortium dont have much advantage. They will get profit, but not like whata Reliance/India cements/Kingfisher does.

Take Legal Action on Modi
by Narayanan Kutty on Apr 13, 2010 12:11 PM  | Hide replies

I feel Modi should be taken to court on this issue and banned from IPL. If a player like Jadega can be banned for breach of confidentiality contract then Modi should definitely be taken to court.
It is clear that he wants to snatch the franchise from Kerala and give to some other corporate may be Videcon and they would have definitely offered him some big cash.
Wake up India and wake up Kerala and act against Modi.
Its high time BCCI sacks Modi from IPL.

Kutty,
If Tharoor really wanted to help and get Kerala team, why didnt he help Mohanla & Priyadarshn. They were also the sons of kerala soil. Or atleast they should have been included in the consortium.
I am not against Keral IPL team. I support them. But why he helped some Gujarathi/marathi businessman when already 2 were their from Kerala seeking the team. He could have given his 'so called expert advice' to Mohanlal and helped a Keralite get a kerala team.

Mohanlal and Priyan withdrew cause that moron Modi had asked for $1 billion net worth value. No one came forward for the bid then..In the fresh bids Modi wanted Ahmedabad team instead of Kochi..Clearly its Modi who is leaking all the stories to media..

What you are saying is right. In the second bid, there was no such restrction. So everyone knew they had interest in buying the team. So, Tharaoor could have got them also in board in RWS. Vivek Venugopal is having just 1% personal stake. So,obviously , Mohanlal&Priyadarshan could have been included as well.

Lalit Modi should be kicked out from IPL. He was convicted for drug peddling. What more we can expect from him. First he should be checked out from all posts and second call an investigation on how his bro-in-law got a team ownership and his bro got media rights and third source of incomes shold be investigated for these dirty stinky piece of s**t.
