if top performers r retained in same team they will not have chance for better pay... those who r not retained will get more money... how will they manage it ?
Its defenitely unfair if these two new teams given second string players. All the players has to go for auction since 3 year contract is over. I think following members should be captain for 10 teams respectively and it deserves to be an indian captain only. Because its IPL and ofcourse we want Indian captains 1.M S Dhoni 2.Yuvraj Singh 3.Sehwag 4.Gambhir 5.Raina 6.Sachin Tendulkar 7.Anil Kumble 8.Rohit Sharma or Dinesh Karthik 9.Harbhajan or Zaheer Khan 10.Virat Kohli or Yusuf Pathan This will make all Indian players to captain the team and will make how to unite players in big events like WC and other tournaments For Franchise owners; Please do not take Laxman, Dravid and Ganguly too and give chance to Youngsters.

Good point. You might want to rethink on Raina. He is not potential captain. I agree on your point on Laxman, Dravid and Ganguly.

If I'm Sahara, I won't certainly make a fuss out of it. I strongly belive that there is enough talent in the World to make a completely new match winning team that too without giving too many millions to players.
An example of how I will pick my foreigners.
1. Tamim Iqbal 2. Shahid Afridi 3. Marlon Samuels 4. Kyle Mills 5. Sakib Al Hassan 6. Mohammed Yousuf 7. Umar Gul 8. Stuart Board 9. Shohail Tanvir 10.Chris Cairns
Coming to indian players , the new bees like jadega, Ojha, junjunwala, Dogra, S Tiwary, Rayudu etc came from no where. So I believe surely there is no end to local talent in INDIA. It is just a matter of time to find 10 players.
The only problem would be to get an icon player but if u look at the quality of the icon players (Ganguly, Laxman, Dhoni etc)..I don't think they are doing anything spectacular to make a huge difference to their teams. So make someone like Afridi as captain and move onnnnnn.....
Instead of IPL & franchises deciding about players auction... Players should given priority to decide if they want to stay in a same team for the same amount paid for them.. ??
If players consider their team & status above their price.. they they will keep their team. If player says YES to keep their team, then IPL should ask their franchise, if they also want to keep that player for same price or not ??
If player & franchisee both agree on same amount then, its OK; otherwise player should be keep in auction pool... where same franchisee should not allow to buy him again & player would get price according to his performance/status...
Main advantage of this idea is.. If a player is loyal to his franchise/city/state, then he would prefer to stay & also franchisee will save more money to retain him in a team otherthan buy him again in re-auction.
Though i agree that an owner who has built a team over three years will not want to rebuild his team , a level playing field is more important . Otherwise whats the point in bringing in two new teams if they can't get any good players . Secondly during the first auction it was quite clear that the contracts signed then would be for 3 years , so the owners should have realized that they can't keep planning beyond that without any changes . If i remember correctly a reauction after 3 years was mentioned even then . There are a few ways in which the auction can be made level . 1) Players from a state with an IPL team may be given the option of being selected only in their corresponding team . If they don't want to exercise that option they can be put in the common auction pool . If their team doesn't want them then again they can go into the common pool . 2) Foreign players will have to be auctioned except players who have captained their respective teams . So Warne , Gilchrist and Sanga can remain in their previous teams unless they opt to be auctioned . I mention this because these players have a major stake in team building .
what filthy money, imagine how many million people would've been outta poverty in India with this kinda money, had it been used by the government in a more priority-based manner...
