Not so long ago Sehwag had underestimated bangladesh team and said in press conference that Bangladesh is not capable of taking 20 wickets and is no threat. I think this shows the sarcastic attitude of players. If IPL is setting example then BCCI should pick some leaves from IPLs book

I feel Viru escaped because he said so in media and not during presentation.

Bangladesh proved it right also, as they couldnot pick up 20 wickets in both the tests...
Good example set by officials.. Even though I like Gambhir as a cricketer, those comments were not from a matured player.. These guys should see Tendulkar as example for how to behave.
What ever he said was his view abt the opponent. Cant he say, what he feels? It is Gambhir's opinion about their opponent team.
We are living in a country where we have right to speak what we think.
How many times we have heard/seen commentators say, after 6th or 7th all are tail-enders. They dont pose a threat.(Haven't we seen many matches turned by tail enders).
If that is wrong, I'll agree what Gambhir said is also wrong.
All these hearings and rulings points to one thing, IPL leaves no stones unturned to make money. Give one way, get from other way. Whatever way it is possible to make money, do it.
Sanga, Sachin & many other captains paid their match fee for no fault of their's.
It's so hard to finish a over in 4 mins.(especially in T20).

Rajagopalan, your statement is wrong. When you play in a tournament of this size, one should have some decorum and you are not to judge teams and their players. You prove your superiority by playing competitive cricket and not criticising a team and especially its players. The fact that Gambir has accepted it as an offence itself proves that he was wrong.
Don't justify without looking into facts. Modesty is something we learn from captains like Sachin and Kumble. Never underestimate any team. It is bound to come back at you and bring your downfall.
gauti deserves one good tight slap...first he must learn to behave..but then what will you teach the delhi guys...these guys dont respect their parents and called then bahinc**d.....thats their culture...

Totally agree on these delhi and other north bred goons. Look at the IPL Fairplay award ranking for instance - it tells a story. The bottom three are Delhi, Rajasthan and of course Punjab !!! What a joke ! Its a culture thing definitely and the morons will never get it , will they ?

It is really sad to see people from the same nation fighting among themselves and that too on pity issues like region. This was the reason which enabled the British to rule us.Still no lessons learnt....Grow up guys...Talk about India as a country and not as a collection of STATES... Remember its Motherland INDIA and NOT UNITED STATES OF INDIA with infighting
This is ridiculous. Where is the competition spirit? Are the IPL management suppose to rule the minds and thoughts of all the players. This is utter nonsense and unprofessional to even consider it level 1 offence. Lalit Modi should stop this gundagirdhi. The IPL management is making India a global joke by such rules. please stop politicising cricket.

Did not expect this from an international player like Gambhir and he definitely should learn the art of public speaking as someone pointed out. RR has been one of semi final contenders this year and winner of the first IPL. His remarks should have been limited to saying that "Pathan was the main threat and once we got him out we were confident of winning the match".
The same Rajasthan Royals was IPL1 winner.Delhi Daredevils has lost 3 matches with 3rd position in the table and RR has lost 4 matches with 4th position in the table just 1 matches more.Shame on Gambhir he must learn from mahi to be down to earth.

if Rajasthan Royals feel bad about it then they should defeat delhi next time rather than crying over the comments. where is freedom of speech ???

RR is not crying here. It is IPL who has got problem with Gambhir's statement. Also regarding freedom of speech, it is given by India but not IPL. Hence according to India's laws, he is innocent but according to IPL's laws, he is guilty.
always under estimating the opponents.now what provoked him to say so was really joke. i guess these needs to be trained by Great Sachin, wall dravid or gentlemen Kumble on speaking of opponents & game
