It is very sad news. 92 tests as umpire is really too much. Just imagine the exposure to sun standing all 5 days of each test. This was worst when he umpired in the subcontinent. This could be one major factor for him affected by cancer. Umpires in cricket are the most exposed and cruel job in any sport. other sports are not played for such long. It is better if we have 6 umpires for every test and move them around for 5 days. the rest can take up 3rd umpiring other duties.
an umpire who stayed away from all controversies and made us believe that an on field umpire can never be replaced by technology...his nelson antics will always be remembered and missed by fans across the world...may his soul rest in peace...
