The reason why i like shepherd is he is very professional as well as friendly, i remember an incident where saqlain refused to walk out after lbw by sachin,david commanded him to get out...one of the worst decisions was hansie cronje slip catch in world cup where the ball actually hit the legs bowling by warne

David Shepherd was an excellent umpire,never biased any decisions against any country, a thorugh genetleman and great entertainer at field. He will be always remembered for his honest decisions and cool nature with utmost repsect.

May your soul RIP, my heartly condolences with his family.

If there was any 'umpire' in cricket who was fun to watch, it was sheperd, although a more funny umpire(billy bowden) came up later. RIP

He was someone who brought a smile to one of the most tedious jobs; umpiring. He had his share of mistakes, but the way he ran the game reduced any possibility of friction.This is what umpires can learn from him. A good umpire must not only know the rules of the game, he should be good in man management, something some of the present day umpires are poor in.
