Bowlers should bat a bit
by GODAVARTI RAmesh on Oct 04, 2009 12:25 PM  | Hide replies

What dhoni said is right. Vettori and shane watson could contrubute with bat. That is one of the reasons their teams are in final. But frankly our bowlers who played in CT except perhaps Nehra and Praveen kumar are suitable only for test cticket. Half the team was not cut for Limited overs cricket. We must pick players who are good in two depts of the game and persist with them for some time regardless of results. Only them can a team evolve into a winning combination.

Exactly but why we dropped Irfan Pathan who bowls and bat both and a very good fielder (much better than Yusuf Pathan). Irfan has batted in opening, one down, 5,6, 7 numbers and done really well. Praveen is kept out of the team most of the time unnecessarily, he can bat a bit but he needs alteast some security of his place. He should be promoted and given some opportunity.

Irfan's bowling has lost sting and was ineffective totally before being dropped. He can bat a bit. Now we hear he is injured too. Piyush chawla's case is also similar. He can bat a bit and is a smart fielder. But his bowling too had gone awry.

Ramesh, Irfan's bowling has lost sting, so then what about Ishant or RP ? where is the sting in their bowling ? Irfan can at least bat decently..in fact far better than his brother...I think Dhoni shud have opted for Irfan in place of Yusuf and it would have made a big difference

There is no doubt Pakistan cricket team is wonderful. But as cricket is game of BALL.
India plays with own balls I mean Tatta,s where as Pakistan with extra balls , means tatta,s of America and Englang where bread , bat , ball are4 all donated from extra Tatta,s.
That is the difference in between India and Pakistan.
Otherwis Pakistant team is good

Just see vettori...he bats,he bowls,he fields,he leads and he does everything wat a leader can do...dhoni is only lucky where as vettori is talented,hard-working but not as lucky as dhoni to have team members like sehwag, yuvraj, sachin, gambhir all match winners...how many match winners nz have only few like captain, ross taylor or may be one more.....dhoni is never a talented captain he is a lucky captain

No you are wrong Bhanu prakash because last 8 match with NL India had won 7 matches. Then who is better captain Dhoni or Vettori.yes we loss the match against Pakistan.with that match we cant say India is worst team and Dhoni is worst captain. After Ganguly for me Dhoni is the best for India. Then many people say India win matches by luck thats not true.In T20 we win against pakistan is not luck.We had taken 10 wickets of pakistan. Its problem with indian cricket fans if india wins the matches they will keep them as a god.If India loss they will tell that previous match win is just luck.Pleas see the match as a sport.Any one can win it if we win be happy. If we loss dont think that our country pride is gone. Its not in cricket. Its within as.

Vettori fielded bad FYI. I guess to save himself from injuries he avoided easy dives in yesterday's match. Otherwise his captaincy, bowling, field placements and batting were awesome.

Every Indian captain tilldate has been lucky. They are all overhyped after one or two series wins. None can match the consistency of Clive Lloyd, Steve Waugh or Ricky Ponting.

You are right. Dhoni showed initially certain qualities to earn respect but lately he is mediocre on the field, evasive in press conferences and not good in dealing with other star players like Sehwag, Yuvi, Bhajji etc.

As they say, the captain is as good as the team. WI (not today's team) and Aus are far far better team than any team of their times.

In each game one has to win and other has to loose. here NS vs Pak some people supported Pak, because they are our neighbours, and it is better neighbour to take cup against white remote people ? Is it bad? After all supporting a team is an individual choice and the good team must be winning team everywhere. Where as if PAK/INDIA match , it is a birth right of all indian to support India only because India is our mother country. Dont mix politics in sports. But SOME Stupid people never understand the facts.

Indians do not trust their bowlers!!
by aditya banerjee on Oct 04, 2009 11:58 AM  | Hide replies

Say Australia, S Africa, Sri Lanka Pakistan and New Zealand are going to bat first against India's bowling attack... I am sure that most of us would expect 3or4 out of the 5 teams to score over 300....this is what makes Indians sad about their cricket team. They can never be happy. Shane Watson (Australia's 4th bowler) bowls at 137 kmph and scores a century... Praveen Kumar bowls at 127 kmph and scores a zero.... Indians win a match only when their batsmen bat like mad men and get the runs... not a very professional way..

I dont see pace as the quality of bowling. What is required is accuracy in line and length according to field set. And supportive fielding. But we miss both. Even though our bowlers try hard our fielders drop catches and let them down. None including wicket keeper could hit the stump to get runouts. McGrath in his career rarely touched 140 KPH and remained at 132-135. Praveen Kumar at 127 KPH took 2 wickets in the first match he played after a gap of 5 ODIs or more. So your arguements seem vague.
