Being from HP helps
by Rajeev Kumar on Nov 20, 2009 09:05 AM

This guy has impressive performances. He is from Himachal, so he is used to bowling at high altitudes where one gets tired fast due to air being thinner. On the plains, he is likely to bowl better. Anyway, in ODIs apart from Nehra and Zaheer no one is bowling well, therefore this guy can be tried atleast in place of Munaf Patel. Who khows ?????

Two years back Munaf Patel was just like him hailed as fastest bowler ever in India's cricketing history and look where this lazy fellow is now.

With no disrespect meant, I wd like to know what is his speed? If a guy can bowl well over 145 kms then select him, otherwise it hardly helps if u r merely accurate.

Pace does not matter if you can move the ball both ways and bowl accurately. Irfan and Praveen Kumar do not bowl fast. Where they fail is they can not pitch the ball up consistently and probe the batsman like Kapil used to bowl. Irfan did that way early on. Now both Irfan and Praveen do not have the strength to bowl consistently on the length. In every over there will be at least one short pitched delivery and a few giving width to batsmen.

i think, the selection criteria for a fastbowler should be the bowling speed (minimum 143 km/h).
India already have bowlers who can swing the ball and now they need a bowler who can consistently bowl at the speed more than 145 km/h. This will add variety to the Indian bowling attack.

Also, selectors should set a benchmark that the bowler should nt drop his pace in the future (just like in case of munaf patel and ishant sharma).

Hey man look at u people.......i feel so sorry when you do comment on regionalism for the selection in cricket......

its you people because of which the so called leaders like Raj thackrey and Bal thackrey have succeeded to stand between us......

its the talent which is to be identified and not the region or cast from where u come from....

by vr singh on Nov 18, 2009 05:09 PM

In recent time Indian bowler has a wrost year of 2009 and the weakest attack in Indian history. The time tell us that please make change because the selected bowler in on-going Ind/SL test at ahmedabad, they knew that they are the best bowler of India and they also know that his seat in Indian team is fixed even they performence is like club boy or school every time.

Malik or Bose
by Kumar Chakraborthy on Nov 18, 2009 10:42 AM  | Hide replies

Everyone is talking of Malik at present. 1st class matches & intl" matches are completely differnet ball game. Just because he has performed well in 1st clas matches doesn't mean he is fit for Intl. cricket right now. If that's the case then why not Ranadev Bose fr. Bengal. He has been conistently performing well for the last 4/5 yrs. He was picked for the ENg. tour but never got a chance. Later he was dropped. Mind it he is only bowler in Cricket history to have not bowled a single no-ball in his career as yet.A milestone as Bradman like. Is Srikkanth watching.

selectors should try to groom ashok dinda (Knight riders) and kamran khan (rajasthan royals) since both of them are capable of bowling at around 145km/h.

To get into Test/Oneday/T20 you have to be from south- see how sreeshanth was picked without any wicket in domestic matches. Manish Pradhan , manoj Tiwary, Ranadeb Bose, Malik and now Pathn brothers will all be playing domestic cricket.

true to their nature, a bunch of bongs ganging up to defend one of their ilk. no amount of screaming can deny the fact that ranadeb bose is just an ordinary bowler who struggles to clock 125 kph. as is the case with bongs, they will never accept it.

You are talking real rubbish. Which state in India does not shout for their own state mates and do partiality. Does you state people are neutral and honest...are you? All Madrasi,Gujju,Bhaiya, Ghati,Gulti does the same. So do not say that Bengalis support their people. You guys too try glorify your waste fellows. I am not supporting Ranadeb Bose case or for that matter there are many more cases in Indian cricket where a deserving person did not get chance. SO from whatever state you are from under disguised name like a c_ow*a*rd you people do not have right to pretend

Laxmi Balaji will be selected
by Raman Shiva on Nov 18, 2009 10:12 AM  | Hide replies

Krish Srikanth knows nothing about fast bowling except being hit on the forehead and bleed like how he got hit of Wasim Akram or Break his arm when Bishop bowled a speed one to him,all he knows is to be a Sachin chamcha and select all Tamil Brahmins,he will select Laxmi Balaji next...

I think Irfan Pathan or Munaf atleast one of them would be in playing 11 instead of Sreekuttan if Vengsarkar was the selector

How can u say that? Srikkanth is not at all a casteist/regionalist. He may be a fool who could not pick a good team even if his life depended on it....but he is not biased. He is too stupid to understand about caste/region. Fo e.g., he is a Tamilian but he's a chamcha of Tendulakr (Maharashtrian). That's how stupid he is.

Irfan Pathan used to bowl well. But check how he has bowled in recent times. Munaf bowls well occasionally, but is not the same as he was when he came. Srisanth is a wicket taking bowler. He might have done better than Ishant in the current Test.
