IPL- A DOOM FOR INDIAN CRICKET
by mohdali ahmed on Nov 18, 2009 07:41 AM  | Hide replies

Twenty20 must be a revival for Modern Cricket and IPL a profit venture to the Boards of cricket. But IPL has spelt a doom for Indian Cricket. Players from all over the world are eager to be part of IPL and this has helped them understand the quality of Indian pitches and how the wickets behave here. Usually, we used to see a lot of players struggling to get past 100, be it in Tests or ODIs in India, but thanks to IPL, the trend has changed. Now our batsman find difficult to play the quality bowlers from other countries. I fear we may not even qualify for a Semi-final berth, let alone the World Cup 2011 dream, that we are dreaming off. We lack aggression and quality cricket. Our failures in IPL and Champions League show that we don't have good captains to lead the side. And of course our recent failures in Champions Trophy, Twenty20 World Cup, and India-Australia series is the result because of IPL and players hype due to media. Shane Watson, Peter Siddle, Dilshan, and many others have proved what IPL has done for them. IPL is a boon for other cricketers, but surely it's a sign of devastation for Indian Cricket in future. We are not the Number One team for sure neither in ODIs or Tests or Twenty20.

Well, then apply your logic to India players as well. If Dilshan and other got so great by playing IPL in India for month n half, why can't Indians get better after playing on the same pitches forever?

The point is we as fan and media have spoled our players and that's about it. Look at the 'Spotted' on Red!ff*, and see how many of us so proudly send it their pics taken with Indian cricket players, like they met God in the real world. See those pics and see the faces of our players, loaded with arrogance and ignorance..

dilshan is right. if they have a score of 600, they will control the match and possibly win it as well. i dont why people react wildly. every cricket team including india aspire to win the matches, especially away from home and in the process, they set some targets and express and execute them. if they do well, they win. it is simple. well indians did not play well on the first two days, but it does not mean that they will not play well for remaining three. if they play poorly on day 3, it is curtains for them. in the bowling, indians are missing a spinner who can hit the deck well. well this pitch reminds me of indo pak match back in 1987. pak chose tauseef to support qasim while india chose two finger spinners. that was the key. instead of yuvraj, sachin and viru should try. viru has got more chance of taking wickets in these pitches than mishra, bhajji or yuvi.

Harbhajan.

It is time for Harbhajan to prove himself as a world-class off-spinner. Sri Lankans are very good players of off-spin bowling, and if Bhajji is what he says he is, then he should prove it against Lankans.

Harbhajan is a mediocre spin bowler. It is time to recruit some promising young spinners which India has instead of sticking with Harbhajan who cannot deliver anymore.

Truely said, Ravichandran Ashwin from TN and Pragyan Ojha from HYD are good for limited overs Cricket and Iqbal Abdullah from Mumbai and Amit Mishra from Haryana are good for test matches. Harbhajan shd be dumped from all forms of Cricket and asked to practice hard with domestic matches for some time now.

Some how...he lost his rythm...and he thinks that his place is perminant...just because of dummy selectors..this will be the case until unless...they select the players based on current form.

Who kills the game of cricket?

No prize for guessing. With this type of flat pitches, the game of cricket is on the way to quick demise.

So, we all know who kills this great game!
