Is he referring to the midget?
by just passing on Nov 16, 2009 09:28 AM

Oh well, midgets are not men. They not only lack courage, but also magnanimity. They just want to stay on forever, milk the cricketing world for as much money as possible. Heck they even seek ways to dodge tax when importing fancy cars. Selfish midgets!

the old man has lost it...
by Mehul Patel on Nov 16, 2009 09:11 AM  | Hide replies

the guy has gone cuckoo. although i respect him as a batsman, i do not agree with his views. its not abt being pampered. ppl invent new things for the betterment of the game and prolong their career. he is crying foul coz sachin completed 20 years and will set records that'll be difficult to break. he cant see sachin and ponting being remembered as the greatest players to have played game coz at the end of the day, ppl only remember records and these two batsmen r right up there. other thing i remember is the standford T20 match. he lost his gentleman-ship the moment he was seen licking stanford's S with his mate ian botham. what happened there is known to the entire world. so there r various reasons for him to b jealous towards other great batsmen of the modern era who play longer coz of protective gears and create all sorts of records.

what is ganguly doing in that list. His averages against top teams is pathetic. He only scores on flat pitches. Mathew hayden is better than ganguly any day.

In the bowlers Mcgrath is better than akram and waqar, hence should be ranked higher. It is regional bais here once again.

Helmet is Good & Also to be a Gentleman
by Confused Mind on Nov 16, 2009 05:13 AM

nnovations happen over time and better
technologies and safety measures improve
the quality of life of people. There are
many ways in life to prove that one is a
man by taking care of one's duties and
responsibilities properly. Cricket is not
so much a problem; as is the obsession to
just watch cricket and pass comments by
millions of people in the Indian subcontinent
than to pick up some sport and pursue as
a lifelong passion for ones own physical
and mental toughness and development as
many in the West do. Action creates dreamers.

Correction Sir
by Ganesh R on Nov 15, 2009 11:43 PM  | Hide replies

Correction Sir ..You said Cricket is not a gentleman's game, its a man's game. But nowaday's its also woman's game :-)

Valour matters....not whether you wear helmet or no helmet Sir. Akbar the great, Rana Pratap, Shivaji, all warriors of olden days are famous not for wearing HELMET or not wearing helmet, but for fighting battles with manliness and valour and winning them.

For that matter even lady warriors like Razia Sultana or Jhansi ki Rani were famous because they fought bravely with or without helmet doesn't matter.

Same way cricket is another battle where the brave batsmen (men or women) face the super fastest of deliveries and smack it outside the park with sheer disdain. Doesn't matter what they wear as protection, as long as they win the matches or fight hard for their respective teams and smash those runs and make it interesting game for spectators to watch and enjoy :-)

Lets not forget the sad incident when our Indian cricketer Raman Lamba died while playing in a cricket match because he wasn't wearing helmet and fielding at forward short leg position in a match in Bangladesh and some batsman's powerful shot hit him on his head and caused him internal brain haemorrhage or something and he died. What would Sir have to say for that ?

Isn't it wise to use protection/protective gear when it is available for use rather than pay the price without using one ?

I see some friends of mine in the city showing off and zooming at high speeds on their big bikes without wearing helmets ? Why they do this and for what and to prove what I really dont know ?

CG Gang:

Its good to get your esteemed appraisal of two greats. :)

How many runs did you score? And what did Viv Richards say about you as a batsman? (We know what he says about Sachin, so it will be interesting to compare Richards's statement about you too). :)

The 70s, 80s and 90s were the golden days of cricket
by CG GANG on Nov 15, 2009 11:38 PM

When men played cricket, Imagine playing in a generation of the great fast bowlers and equally exciting batsmen. It was the golden era of cricket, 70s and 80s and may be early 90s. Like the old hindi classics-kishore, rafi et all. Those days are gone. Cricket used to be a great game then
