Helmets have actually made good batsmen take their eyes away from the ball, I think as penalty 2 runs should be awarded (deducted from batting team) to the bowling team with they strike the helmet once in an over. Legends like sachin have been hit so many times on the helmet, and thats why sunil gavaskar had said sachin has the almost perfect technique. Imagine him playing without helmet. forget about the other indian players (dravid is excluded as he is a great too but has a better technique against short pitch ball than sachin)..

Viv Richards never wore a helmet. He retired in 1987 and helmets were available as a protection gear long before 87.
Due all respect to you,’ but I don’t agree, why should you look for trouble when you know that some one carrier will be over and he will not be able to play or get the opportunity to play I international cricket looking at the amount of competition in the international arena.

i also agree with you but with one rectification i need . since batsman has taken full safety equipment, allow bouncers, or a true pitch.

Allowing more bouncers is Ok. But why do we consider only pitches that have high bounce as true pitch. A batsman's capability / technique against visciously turning deliveries is also equally important.

Helmet is not the only safety equipment. A batsmans pads, thigh pad, abdomen guard, gloves etc are all safety equipments. Did he pay without them?
